Progress Thread Project: Buried Under A Mountain Of Snow Black Hole Money Pit.

well... still dont have my car back. last time i stopped over nothing new was done and some one hit it with a 4 wheeler. wasnt all that happy about that one

seems like business as usual as far as that goes w/ regard to chassis fabricators.

They are the definition of "Robbing Peter to pay Paul"...None of them stay on course, they take your money and start on it,.....(just enough to make the car un-moveable) then when that money runs out (instead of having bought all of the materials that they needed when they took your money in the first place), they take another job move yours into a corner, and then the dance begins.....

I know two of them locally here in Birmingham that each have at least 5-7 cars in their one-man shops.....

5-7 cars!

Nobodies junk gets done,...when they do it's usually rushed towards the end......

Theses guys all justify learning how to TIG weld yourself....

the problem is i CAN weld... but he has done a bunch of them before so i figured he would have been faster. maybe i was wrong
I built that orange and black 86 back in 06 myself, while a friend had a shop build his. When I was done, the cage cert'd to 8.90 (25.2 IIRC) and I was racing,..All while my friend btchd that his car was still sitting in that shop....They're all the same. I can't testify what the "big shops" do, but I can tell you the Average Joe' Chassis Fab and purgatory are commonly used together.

They simply will not stay on track,..they don't budget the time that it takes to get to a "stage" properly and they run out of money before they get done with your project..

got the garage cleaned out over the weekend, went to check on my car. the wheel tubs are seam sealed up and done. i want to try and get over there this week and hit them with some black paint to keep them from rusting. the coil over bar is getting cut out and re done. since its all screwed up from when i tacked it in place. one shock tab set is angled up (not my screw up) then the tabs arent centered over the rear so hes going to make his own bar i think.

these things have been sitting in my garage since i started going down this road. guess i should start cleaning them up and getting them ready to be ceramic coated.

This right here. ace hardware, fastenal, and bolt depot are my friends (crappy nasty hardware is a pet peeve of mine)
i normally use mcmaster for anything "normal" but with highports you need to use valve cover studs so i ordered ARP's ,have to use 12pt head studs i ordered intake studs also... and oil pump bolts. engine builder already has the main studs. im making my own oil pan studs. i hate to see how much ive spent for bolts alone LOL
