6 months ago it dawned on me that instead of paying Cometic, or having to cut my own valvecover gasket out of a sheet of cork, maybe I'd reach out to my valve cover supplier and see if I could buy the gaskets from them too. But I forgot that I did that since it had to be done through Facebook. A few days ago, ..for whatever reason,....I happen to open up the utter waste of time that is Facebook, and discover that he had indeed responded to me, and had forwarded a link to a US supplier to see if he had any.
Huh....go figure.
So, I contact the link, and inquire if he has any,....( he had to dig through some old stuff, and he'd get back to me)
Last night I get a text that says he found them, and he'd sell me one at 25 bucks, or two for 50, 3 for 75..., blah-blah-blah....

I order two. I'm buying two for the price of a single Cometic custom piece, so I'm happy. I can finally bolt the valve cover back on after removing it last October.

I should be going downstairs, and attempt a full pressure test on the contraption that is now in the garage, but I'm not feeling that...all I need is to have something come apart, and then I'd have a come-apart...id rather sit here and eat cookies instead.

Now you can start your body work. Yay!
Trust me,..the dread of doing it was mostly because of the chicken peen sized capacity of that other compressor. It wouldn't let me port a head, it wouldn't let me take off 4 wheels, it wouldn't let me unbolt nothin without having to turn on almost immediately to catch up. And then, as long as I was using something air driven, it would run forever.
At a noise level equivalent to standing next to an engine with open headers.

I'm glad to sell it to #1 at significantly less than half of what I paid for the piece of crap. For him, it'll be fine since all he'll use it for is to air up a tire for the foreseeable future.

Was going to write a longer comment...but folks beat me to the point.

Paint the walls...it'll be brighter in there.

Stainless line...nice touch. Good use of shelved stuff.

The Who's in Whoville would be proud.

Now, get back to work.

So are you putting the MS3 together then?
No, not just yet..too many variables left to chance.
1.The whole engine has been apart since it last ran. I need to know that it'll run, and run right before I change out any of the ecu components.
2. I'm using a relay board. I don't know how that'll affect the ms3x wiring.
3. I have some bad circuits on the ms2.
The iac 1, and one or two led outputs are not working. The boost control mod works, but I think I used part of the can bus circuit to get it out of the ecu. I couldn't tell you how its wired to save my ass.
I don't know if the ms2 tune is compatible with the 3x hardware, and.....i am using a bluetooth adapter to connect my PC to it.
Once it runs.....

I like how you are selling your old compressor to your son rather than giving it to him, lol. Son, nothing in life is free, not even my old sht.
You don't understand....I tell him it'll cost him 100 bucks, he doesn't pay me...I end up letting him slide. And that freakin compressor is new...I just bought it last year.

No CMA,

you just gotta PRACTICE sayin'

that don't confront me none.

Long as I get my money next Friday....;)

(That's what I told myself when the bailiff wheel clamped my son's car yesterday, [after the tall dark State Tax Collector asked for half of the 900 bucks my son apparetly owes in fines]....27 year old kids.

I did start singin' him a song...

Here's an old story bout a bailiff call Ged [Clampet].

My son said that my singin' had improved, but its okay to stop, Dad ).

Hmmm....Sunday........What to do, What to do?.......

I guess I've put off the mechanical part as long as I can. Especially considering that the valve cover gasket situation is now behind me. If I think about it, it's probably 3-4 hours to restart...

Man. Just a half day away from Monster engine V....( what version will this be now......V1.0-V1.3, (3 attempts to get the head gasket thing fixed) , V2.0 was a complete rebuild to include 6 new sleeves when I found tool marks in a couple of the cylinders. The engine got forged rods at that juncture. (Was it then that i converted the single ITB intake over to the current 6 pack, and sold off the old turbo stuff?...crap,.this is getting confusing) V3.0 gets the turbo back, albeit a Chinee mono scroll instead of the domestic twin scroll I had before . This time around, V4.0 I attempt to vent the crankcase better via a direct path from the pan to the valve cover using a -12 hose to interconnect. Other than that, the only other thing is that the hot and cold sides are coated. No performance gains expected from that, but.....boost is gonna get bumped by twice. We're going for some sort of 15 psi target..at least north of 10....the ECU will get upgraded to allow for progression of the boost, and the water meth injection.

I will say this about that. The Pistons in this engine are 2618 alloy. I know this is why I'm having blow by issues. If I still have oil control issues this year, I'll bore the engine and put a 4036 alloy piston in the thing instead. A 4036 piston will be considerably tighter in the bore, and the rocking noise that I hear now should be gone. If I do that, I may put some sort of forged aftermarket rod in it.

But I digress.

Let's shoot for engine restart today.
