Ok,.....laser beam narrow focus on today's objective.....it's "too secret" to even disclose at this juncture,....I'm consulting with "the generals" to help develop a plan......I'll reveal in tonight's forum.
Considering I last left off at page 198 and it's now page 204 I figured it would be done by now

Did you spend the day brush painting fender bolt heads and the big ugly locking nuts down on your splitter???
What I did do was commit to painting the wheels.
last week, before I changed my mind and decided NOT to have the wheels powder coated, I had the tires dismounted.
What I didn't know was that the wheel guy really gouged one of the rear wheels.
So bad there was about a 1/8" x 1/4" nick in two places. I agonized over whether or not to go back and bit ch the guy out for not bothering to point that out, but the fact that he didn't, and that I had the wheels in my possession w/o discovering the damage at the time now made it my word against his.
So I fixed it.
What do you spose I used?
You damn skippy. I JB welded the p iss outta the damage.
Once fixed, I cleaned the wheels, primed them with etching primer and spent a mind numbing 90 minutes masking them up.
So,...that said....this is what I did:
The black paint is still mega wet. ( Ask me how I know this) It's supposed to be satin black,...I'm confident that in a couple of hours they'll flatten. The fine line tape is still on there for that reason.
I did sag the pi ss outta the orange paint though,........ in several places. I'm kind of up in the air over how to fix that...they look like holy hell.
Lastly there's Melvin.... What to do about melvin...
If I leave him alone,..that might add the necessary bling to make the wheel's pop. Or conversely, I can paint him...

Match the color of the decal lettering, or leave the old silver fox the way he is. The color layout on the wheels looks great.
That's going to be a lot of sanding to get the run out of that orange. I do like the color scheme that looks good

Ok,....business as usual for me I guess. The sags are too extreme to wet sand out. MOF, attempting to do that has broken through in other areas on the very first wheel I attempted .

You have to see the bright side Mike, when you cut the runs out of a single stage, the color where the run was will be a different color than the rest. What you have here is the opportunity to take the wheels back to the powder coater and have it done like you knew you should have before you got cheap and figured you could do it yourself.
Do you recall me saying that I HATE painting wheels. Do you kind of feel me now?
Though the color combination does look rather cool that you put on there.
The Powder coater would not/ could not do this scheme with the wheels.
So,....I'm sanding and doing it over. Again.
It's my fault,....I didn't wait long enough between coats, and I sprayed the hell out of them.

Good opportunity to polish the wheel lips. Then leave the Melvin cap chrome, and have the needed bling to balance things out.
