Ok, Mike's Polyester Paint Pavillion is up....
Wow! Much snazzier than the drape-o-booth!
How about these holding my doors and fenders:
Look behind them, other stands back there.

The rear bumper needs one more coat of primer, and it becomes....unwonky.
T-minus 2 hours to paint.
OK @Davedacarpainter ...It's 75 degrees. I got Shopline AE. I got the same brand catalyst, I got a hot weather reducer.
HVLP gun, 1.4mm tip, Gun pressure, we'll start at what 20 psi? and wait between coats please?
I love the enclosure, excellent idea.
You might want to use closer to 30 psi to start out. You'll know when you spray it. If it has too much orange peel, you need more pressure.
You couldn't ask for better weather conditions to shoot the parts though.
The stand holding the doors I call a tree stand, it has six seperate arms you can adjust and has hooks on the ends of the arms.
We have another stand that would be good for what you're doing, you can just catch it in the corner of the door picture. It is a stand that is basically a metal rectangle on wheels. Make something like that and use wire or old metal hangers to hold the parts.

Orangeday is just about over, and I've only got marginal btches.
I hope the those are cureable, and then I can say this day went exactly as I want it to.
Did I mention, I really like single stage paint?
How freakin easy can it be. Pour the gallon into the cup to the #6. Pour the catalyst in till it gets to the next line with a 6 on it. Then add reducer to the third line with the 6. This paint mixes 8:1:1. My stupid paint cup only was graduated for 8:1:2 It took a litle "cypherin'" but I managed to make a fill point reference and mark the cup so that I mixed my junk correctly.
Firstly, I made a gigantor mess. What a pain in the ass it is to try and pour a gallon of paint into a cup w/o spilling it. (I only spilled a little, but still made a mess)
It amazes me that we breathe this air. Paint something and you'll know what I'm talkin about. Because, despite your best efforts to control dust/pollen short of sealing the place up, it finds it's way onto whatever it is your painting.
Here we go....
We'll call this first coat.
By the time the 2nd and third final coats came about things really started to get exciting.
These pieces are dry to the touch, and look that wet. They are continuing to flow out. NOTHING f'd up, It was so routine, itr was almost.......boring.
Spray paint, un couple gun. Remove mask, admire work. wait 15 minutes, refill gun. Spray paint, un-couple gun.......
As time went by, more and more sht landed in the paint, and it's this part that the contingency to my happiness revolves around. The paint is on there heavy, I'm hoping I can color sand and buff that junk out. The car , and all of its parts will get the "Mike's paint BOOTH" treatment, and not the cheesy paint pavilion that the small part were subjected to, I'm not gonna deal with crap getting into the middle of the G hood, or G trunk like what landed on the bumpers today.
So,....you've been working on this crap for what seems like years........Even though it's Sunday, and you gotta work tommorrow, ( The international auto show is making its way to Bham, and you gotta drive the I-8 from the dealership to the convention center) You OWE yourself the "Atta boy!", You OWE yourself the pat on the back, You OWE yourself the "job well done", and you sit down,.....open YOUR beer of choice,...accompany it with the only other liquid that should be drank with beer,....and you type....
And while you type,...you hum a little tune in your head..

Nope,...Solid color Comp Orange. I was not willing to learn how to paint, AND how to paint metallic s the first time out.
The pic with the reflection of the window did not get hardly any blocking, as that part will be under the rear bumper. I'm guessing that's why there's so much orange peel? I did just go down there, and found out that I missed some coverage on the oil cooler shroud. How long should I wait to recoat that part?

Aaaww man I love comp orange. It's my second choice on the new cars right behind deep impact blue. I may have to look at that color more, since we have a blue car in the family already.
I've already tried it,...Pretty much like an IPA, but with the traditional Guiness "tumble" that comes right after it was poured because of the nitrogen.
