Hey all,
Been referencing stangnet forums for a while but finally joined. First forum post ever so bear with me.
I have a 1989 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible that i recently got and have been upgrading here and there. Iv run into a problem and could use some help from you all.
Yesterday i installed a new throttle body and EGR spacer along with a new cold air intake. I have an Edelbrock intake manifold that just arrived but have yet to have time to install it. My fox ran perfect with no issues. Yesterday after work i did the TB and CAI i got from LMR and today Im having issues. Here is what i did.
Removed the air intake line and put away with exception of the Mass Air which i am reusing.
Removed disconnected all the lines and wiring to the throttle body and removed.
Installed the new EGR and Throttle body and gaskets per instruction.
Transferred AIr bypass valve assembly with new gasket and transferred throttle position sensor to TB.
reattached all hoses and plugged in all connectors and attached throttle linkage to TB.
installed CAI line to TB from mass air and mass air to elbow leading to filter inside fender and plugged in.
Started the car and ran it for a minute, sounded good, so i called it a night.
This morning it fired right up as usual and i drove it to work 5 miles away, stopping by the corner store on the way.
Accelerator pedal seems stiff but i chocked it up to new hardware.
As i got close to work the RPMS started surging and sticking up around 1500 or so every so often. When i parked at work, it stalled out. Tried cranking it, it would start but die immediately. Tried a few times, but had to get inside and make relief in the unit. Came out later and tried but same. Either wouldnt turn over or would die immediately. attempting to start too many times caused it to sound like it was draining the starter or something. Had flatbed come get it and take it to my place. it wont start. attempted to adjust the IDLE stop and even run it without air from mass flow connected. nothing. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? it has to be something i did with the TB and CAI install. Thank in advance.
