im currently doing a swap also. i prefer you find a wrecked 5.0 t-5 car. my father wrecked his 89 lx hatch,and i bought a 93 4cyl notch. soon it will be mated together hehe. but if u find a donor car things will be easier, because you need the 5.0 vacuum lines,bulbs etc also. not to mention i would use the 5.0 suspension for the front ,brakes etc.

edit: just noticed your going carb- either way id still find a donor vehicle because yes its efi...but just change intakes etc totally eliminated the computer and sencor wireing haress. plus u can sell the efi stuff to ofset cost.
 
your old 2.3 parts are pretty much worth nothing. The auto trans you will have to Pay someone to take. Most of the people here have extra N/A motors leftover from turbo swaps. And these motors almost never die so the demand for them isnt too high. You should scrap the 5.0 project and look into the turbo 2.3, you might be suprised at what they will do.
