I drive the UPR Products Sales trailer and semi to 20 plus events every year. I have always been keenly interested in 100% streetable performance Mustangs.
I presently have a 2010 convertible that doubles as a display car at the shows and our "Taxi" to the hotels at night. I really love the vert because a topless automatic ride is a true cruiser.
Well I wanted to see just how fast we could push it without diminishing the drivability at all. So I teamed up with my friends at JDM Engineering to come up with a UPR/JDM Roush blower combination. We first started tuning cars with Autologic software in 1992 and presently use SCT tuning software.
We installed a set of UPR/JDM cams and Kooks full length headers into a Magnaflow ultra quiet exhaust system. I also installed 4.10 gears.
The car was done in time to display it at Bradenton Spring Break last weekend. It idled and drove like stock-Really.
We drove it home Sunday night and it took just 9.6 gallons of gas to cover the 205 mile trip. That's over 21mpg!
Finally last night we drove it to Palm Beach Raceway. With MT drag radials the first run netted a 10.64 with excessive wheelspin. On the second pass, Jeremy braked it to 1200rpm and ran a wheels up 10.27 @134.95. Wow!
Yeah, I'm proud of our UPR/JDM/Roush package but my real amazement is the incredible job that Ford Engineering has done with the Mustang. We also have a 2011 with a Hellion/UPR package that we will be dynoing this week. And we are building our 2009 GT500 with a UPR/JDM/Whipple street package for 8 second street performance. I can't wait.
I built the first 8 second true street car back in 1998 (Red 95 GT BF Goodrich Poster car) but that was a trailer queen. This car shows how todays Ford Engineering combined with the right aftermarket parts can do incredible things. Please don't think I'm bragging, I'm just so really excited. I started racing in 1969 with a Cobra Jet Mach 1 and now some 40 years later, it's better than ever.
