Dual Exhaust

Now that this car has passed its yearly safety inspection.
Its time to saws-all the stock single exhaust out of it.
We pulled the Y pipe out, dreaming of making an H pipe out of it for dual type exhaust but retaining stock exhaust manifolds for now.

First Idea - traditional H pipe shape.

For the shot gun exhaust we want, it just works better on the other side.
So we hole sawed some pieces out and with a couple of reinstall mock ups.
Boom!, X pipe instead.

Added a flange and spent some time burning sanding papers up , upon this rusty twisted piece of pipe.
The bubble gum and popcorn flux wire welds should be sufficient to keep from us from asphyxiation.
A coat of VHT high temp Aluminum header paint to make it more presentable.
Ready to go back in car tomorrow.

All the pretty blue burned off the new exhaust doughnuts already. There a reusable item right? LOL

That little dent is the time honored clearance-ing technique for exhaust. Its all close but clears.

Should be interesting considering which transmission cross member you have and how you'll run the pipe back from there. Luckily your car sits at a relatively stock height compared to mine so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Whatcha gonna do about mufflers?

I would probably went plan"a" for simplicity sake...

would of, should of, could of, just not that smart.

.Also curious how it works out towards trans.:pop:

The "X" pipe still bolts to the trans mount as per stock. Engine, trans , and x pipe can still be pulled as one unit from car.
x pipe gets me to the trans yoke already.

Whatcha gonna do about mufflers?

We've been collecting pieces for a while, and shopping the close outs and sales.

The plan looks like this...

But it is so long that it don't fit in the picture or under the car.
Everything must shrink

Been collecting pieces parts for a year.
We pay alot for shipping out here.

Fart can muffler was 41$ total to my doorstep ~ cute and stainless with acceptable tail pipe look.
3 chamber flow master knock off was less than 50$ too.
Over axle were 22$ each and cheap kine stainless.
You get the idea, budget budget, budget, and SS if possible.
