That crappy crossmember has been out of my car twice. It's just as hard to remove as it is to replace. But I suspect it's very important keeping the frame/body straight.One of the last thing was reinstalling the cross member.
Of course 2 bolts are completely stripped and the other two are mostly stripped.
So I got longer shoulder bolts and nuts.
The cross member is tight for the first time in my ownership.
I think it keeps the strut mounts from folding up like a wet napkin mostly.But I suspect it's very important keeping the frame/body straight.
I have no idea how bad it is. But can you just pre-cut the races and use a chisel to break them finally at that cut?Alright, the posi is a bust. The burnt carrier bearing races are spun and self welded on the the carrier.
