WellI got to go buy more black paint, we finished off the whole quart on back side of deck lid and spoiler repaints.

At least its looking lots better there. With two dead cylinders though this project isn't moving right along.

My son is off from school a couple on days right now, and I don't want to waste this moment.
So I took a day off work and we're pulling that dead smog coffer out.

Its His first engine swap, I'm really excited, he's mildly excited but what teen really shows that right!?

Need to clean the driveway. We drained the fluids but the angle of removal so steep the trans leaks anyway.
All the red fluid looks like a double automotive homicide. Just need chalk outlines.

We did good though, no broken bolts and we both only bled a little.

Heres where all the epoxy potting on the dura spark box turned back into goo and ran down engine compartment.

Trying to learn to post smaller photos
I have another used box, here for comparison. I pulled from Mu2 77 parts car.
Even got the right number on it I think, D6VE-12A199-A1C
Of course V might = Lincoln which was probably first application.

I cut the limiter pins, Son burned the vulcanized rubber loose, and wire brushed em.
We urethane construction caulking/glued the rebuild kit in, and we have good v/8 mounts.

I thought this picture useful.
141 tooth M2 Flex plate by 1966 ~ 289 ~ 157 tooth flex plate. Both 6 bolt bell housing.
Notice how starter is tucked in on smaller block plate.

Look close for part numbers. Bell~BE-D5ZP-7976-AA, Block Plate~D5ZE-6A373-AB, Flex plate D5ZZ-6375-A (this one hard to read)
Also no '6 bolt hole' ring under Flex plate mounting bolts like on 65-66 mustangs with C4

And a special thanks to who ever posted these starter photos way back when.
This pic has helped me and I'm posting it again.

Made good use of a couple days off! I'm having fun.

Oil pan and pick up cleaned up. Was really gunky outside and worse inside.
Pick up D5ZE-6622-AA
Pan D5ZE-6675-AB

This pan is round across bottom back by trans where as 65 pan has square shoulders,

What's up Jeff! Stoked to see someone else out here in Hawaii with a father-son project. I surprised my pops last year with a 65' coupe that we're gonna turn into a street rod. Looks like you guys got a solid start. What's the main plans for the project, rebuild the 302?

The new trans mount has arrived.

I wonder where this 'THA LAND' is? This mythical place they still build Mu2 parts in. Of course with this much daylight showing thru I have to speculate about its true high performance potential.

I got some small blocks in the shed and hope that one will work with out to much cash out lay. I should just pony up the money for the block that was in it cuse its got the correct serial number stamped on it. ( but needs Stroker kit right!?! ). It qualifies as the most boring small block engine ford ever made, with the possible exception of the 255 in 1980.

Now we got the mounts squared away, its time to haul one out and compression test em. I lean towards the E6SE block but would need some balancing to work $$. There is also a C5AE~289 block but don't know its condition but is 28 ounce imbalance and could just bolt in.

So Max lets see a picture of that coupe. Post it here or start a thread. Both.

Hope it is in better shape than the WAIHOLE RUSTANG I've been eyeballing.
Only its weight is keeping the front clip against the firewall.

Trans mount
Heres the old one. Its a dangler.

Took it apart and this sticker says D7ZZ-6068-A. Glad I took the picture because it blew away seconds later and is gone.

Side by side and the rest was rebuilt by Krylon and wire brush.

Doc says 'How'd you hurt your back?'
2blue2 "Dragging V8s around the garage and driveway.
Doc 'Yup that do it.'

C5AE block with C6 exhaust and intake. So probable a '66 289'
I'm dragging it out enough to run a compression test on her.
Its been 10 yrs or so since I put it there and can't remember what for about it.
It does have a protective layer of sawdust. I pulled Harmonic B. for a buddy last yr.
The chevrolet orange worries me.
