I'd pull the heads again for inspection, and possible magnafluxing at a machine shop
The heads like to crack right between the valve seats

Took plugs out and turned over, no water came out this time
Pulled the heads off, both this time, Not seeing anything definitive.
After much much staring at the head gasket, Maybe it was leaking compression between 5 and 6.
Drivers side head gasket was all stuck down good except the thin spot between 5 and 6.
Then it rained. Always happy to see the Flat tops in this '2V' engine. No ring ridge, none.
Guess I'm buying a dye kit.

Post close up photos of the head gasket
Close ups of the pistons and bores
Close up of the combustion chambers looking specifically at the area between the valves
The engine looks clean inside

Hard to do good photos of cylinders
But after much staring at the close ups and
Whats that!?! go inspect and nothing
Whats that!?! go inspect and nothing
Whats that!?! go inspect and nothing
Still went to all auto parts stores by me looking for a dye in the crack test kit.
Only one is willing to order it if I pay excessive blackmail type taxes fees + shipping.

Good that you started working on the engine. Its annoying, but in the end everything will be great. And if its not great yet, its not the end...

I might be wrong as I've never had them out together to compare, but I'm fairly sure they wouldn't swap. I think the roller lifters are taller than standard flat tappets, so roller pushrods would be too short.

Fair enough lol. Been a very, very long time since I’ve taken apart a flat tappet anything

Why can't I just have a crate engine hanging out in the shed.

Can't see cracks, could it just be a warped head?

I'm trying and I think this is progress.
My first BookFaceMarketPlace purchase.
No I'm not on bookFace, was looking for engines and it was a full case of Squirrel...
Offy 360 degree 2x4v 289 Tunnel Ram!
Coming soon to a Mustang or Hot Rod near you.
Still need to solve my engine problems. but somehow I feel closer .

Got to keep up with 78 Mach1
