With 3.73`s Will I be shifting into 4`th at the track with a mostly stock 03 gt??? Also how hard will pull on the highway??? I know its another gear thread but I just need a spacifice question answerd.. I know it will be fast from a dig but I also want it to haul ass onthe highway. Last thing i need is my friends with thiere hondas saying race me on the highway and ill smoke you lol(built grs`s and type R`s). should I just go 3.55`s??

i got 3.73's and i like them. if i didnt do as much freewy driving (bout 300 a week just on the freeway). then i would have gone with 4.10's. but my vote goes for the 373's. i never had 355's. but i dont think they would be worth it. when im on the freeway and i down shift from 5th to 4th or maybe 3rd (depends on how fast im going) they move, you get a better feel if you go from a slow roll like 1st or 2nd. but thats just IMO. my stang doesnt do to good off the line right now, i need to get some rear control arms to fix that problem.

like i said i really wanted the 410's. but becuase of my commute i couldnt justify it, ya know?

good luck with your decsion.

as far as ive heard, with 1 "step" up in gear(3.55's) you wont feel it

3.73's are pretty much a unanimous good all around gear

and 4.10s seem to be a little much for the average DD

a friend of my has a 5.0 with 4.10s(i know, different motor, but hear me out). he says that he cant stand driving 55 or higher for more than a few mins cause it revs so much, food for thought none the less

as far as those hondas, well maybe with the stock gears, but with 3.73's they should stay behind you unless theyre turbo'ed. with the 3.73s you should still be pulling when you shift to 5th from 4th at over 100, as opposed to the stock 3.27s or even 3.55s, i think the 3.55s would still bog in 5th like the 3.27s do

as far as the strip goes, i have a feeling that youll need to shift to 4th right around 1100 feet. i mean, when i cross the line im at about 200 rpm short of redline. i was thinking about this myself, as i am looking at getting some 3.73s. hopefully someone will reply that knows from experience

i got 3.73's because i'll be going FI next year and do somewhat alot of highway driving also but do 4.10's they are so sweeet for a N/A car they get up and go

edit: with either 3.73's or 4.10's you'll be shifting into 4th but at the track youll see a difference in gear if you have some slicks, but you will need the rearend built kinda like an insurance if you do the gears or you'll be sorry but there are cars with 4.10's and stock rearend holding up nicely

with 3.90's im redlining 4th gear @ 115mph... id say go with 3.73's if you want a little more top end mph for the freeway...

but if you are mostly stock and dont plan on doing major work then you are gonna want to go with 3.90's or 4.10's...

3.90's go to 115mph in 4th
3.73's go to 120mph+ in 4th... but 3.90's get to 115 faster than 3.73's do... get it?

3.55s are pointless with our cars. they just love to rev. 3.73s,3.90s, or 4.10s. some guys even use 4.30s in their daily drivers. personally, im going 4.10s. most of my driving is around town, with some highway driving during the week. if you just cant make up your mind, get 3.90s.

I have 3.73s and I trapped in 3rd a couple times last time I was out, which was also my first time out. I think because my SCT chip removes the rev limiter I was able to that, I trapping at about 6500 RPM in third. With stock internals that's about the max you wanna be reving to avoid valve float from what I hear.
