315's really ARE hard to mount!!!

Well I got in the 10.5" black bullitt rims a few days ago and now I got the tires in yesterday. Sumitomo 315/35R17, yeah cheap I know.... .... anyways. I tried to mount them and MAN that is really a hard combo. Even like those super skinny 215/40/17 or whatever are easier. I'm just going to pay someother shop to do it. I started ripping the bead... I thought the machine with the one extra arm would help but no...

so tomorrow I'll drop them off at Kal-Tire and pay some $$ to have them mount them... I'll balance them myself. I mock fitted the rims on there the other day and the is clearance between the rims and the stabalizer shocks so I dont' even think I have to remove/turn them...

So I now see why all those companies everyone on here is taking them to is damaging stuff... it's just not an easy task, at least with the machine our shop has. It's dammn near immpossible.

I had the same problems with my 10.5 bullets. The groove inside the rim is just too far down to stretch the tire. I was cuttin up my beads too. And i only have 275s! Oh well i got them mounted and they look great. Good luck with yours!

You need to reverse mount those wheels and tires. They cant be done like a normal rim.

you know now that you mention it... the rim is like those old school volvo rims where you had to mount them reverse... maybe I will try that tomorrow... but I do have the one 1/2 way mounted... I'll have to just force that one on... or try to get it off... hmmm.... maybe I will... thanks for the helpful advice!!

You need to reverse mount those wheels and tires. They cant be done like a normal rim.

Thats how the guy at the shop had to mount my rear 295s

Id suggest taking them to a shop that specializes in 20+ inch rims....

you can tell if it is a reverse mount by how big the inner lip of the rim is. you always want the LARGER lip on the BOTTOM! i think the DD rims are reverse mount, i've only done a few sets but i never had any problems. if you have a pic of the bare rim i can tell you for sure what way they mount

Well thanks to the remembering power of blackfang I was able to do those tires, easy breezy!! I did decide to take off the stabalizer shocks though there was only about 1/5 of an inch clearance... a little to close for me.
So now I'm riding on two DD 17's and 2 16" stockers... for the time being. Doesn't look too bad...

yeah, the tech at my old store couldnt handle it. i took my wheels to a kid at the local used tire shop and it was mounted and balanced in under 5 minutes.

then i had my et streets(bias ply) mounted on my dd bullitts. the composite head on the tire machine couldnt do it, but the metal one did it in no time...
