we are working with aged motors/drivetrains and suspension. 87-93. compared to 99-up. the majority of foxbodys are in poor shape and need maintenance, even the ones that go to the track. kinda hard to compare averages on a car thats from a different generation when one car has 20k miles on it and the fox has 150k

Hard to compare and yet the foxes dont seem to be doing so bad after all these years. Hmmm?

The auto 99-04 cars dont run faster on average. My friend's 03 5 Speed ran 9.3's@77 MPH, could it have done better at the time? Yea. Is it an auto which is much slower stock? No. The auto cars without gears at the SAME TRACKS in the SAME weather HERE dont run faster.

I need to find the timeslip of the 9.4 pass I ran in that 01 GT automatic, pulleys, filter, exhuast, I ran the fastest time of the night in it too.

You seem to be down on foxes pretty bad, you must be one of those people that thinks you gotta have something newer or people wont like you.

It wasnt personal, just the impression I get from someone so down on a fox while having formerly owned a 00 GT.

hmm...your exaggerating a bit...everyone of the 99+'s I know have atleast 50k on them. My friend Matt's with the prochamber, dumped flows with chrome 9in. rims...has 98k as of yesterday I know of three 5.0L's with under 100k in our little group...

That worn out suspension can also be good for off the line...squatty

the majority of 99 up gts around here are 01-03 gts. most of the ones that go to the track are also 01-03 gts.

Again, compare them to a similar weighted 94/95 5.0L. Then we will do bolt-on for bolt-on. I know our 98 gt isn't going to loose at full weight

You keep trying to spin off your stories and strecth them to get your desired length, kind of like a fishing story of the coast of Florida

You really must have bad weather when these guys race or bad drivers, I assume the later...because those cars aren't pulling those slower of mph's down here.

FWIW again.

The 98 gt got a bump in power over the 96-97's. When I had my 94 bone stock (I pulled the air silencer on mine) and a diff. buddy than the 00gt and 87gt had a 98gt. We ran = to one another. The winner was the one who didnt mess up otherwise it was DEAD even and that DEAD even happend ALOT. We got our mods done in the same order at almost the same time. With every mod the one who had the mod first won. But when mods were equal we were back to running the same times again.

the 98 ran a 14.2 with pulles, 3.73's, catback, shifter, CAI.

My 94 ran a 14.3 with pullies, 3.73's, catback, shifter, K&N. At the same time and reaction time was alittle diff. and I beat him by a fender on these times.

MHO, its a hobby...dont loose sight and stop having fun. enjoying people who have the same hobby and likes as you is hard enough to find.

Looks good to me...

Now, we did a "test". Bone stock 95 5.0L 5spd with 3:08's (83k), and bone stock 98 Gt (87k). Ran from a 5mph roll to show low "take-off" capability and to take out driver error on take-off. The better driver was in the 5.0L, it was Matt who runs so well in the 00 Gt (friend). John was in the 98 gt (first actual mustang to own)...but races dirt track. 98 gt pulled a bit over 1 car to 70mph...car was approaching from a far (didn't want ticket if it was a cop).

The 98 now has catback, prochamber, clutch, shifter, filter. There is a 97 gt with midpipe, headers, mufflers, clutch that runs a 1mph faster than the 98 gt. His name is jimmy...goofy guy though...hehe.

Well i find it pretty bad that that all the high tech the newer stang should have can barley beat a old tech..i just think 4.6. just isent a good engine

Well this is my view..the newer 4.6 Might be able to beat the fox..but thats all up to the driver...but thats not why i think the fox body is a better car....fox body has mods up the yin drag auto cross road course its just a car with alot to play with and is lighter and has the low end torque with all the goodies the fox has the 4.6's is a waste of time if it wasent for a supercharger 4.6 would have no future.... and i think its high tech 4.6 was a wast of time for ford and has very little potentual....its rare that ive sean a 4.6 ( NO SC)beat anybody cause in reality i never seem them run what they claim. on the track ive seen 14.4 to 15.4's once and a while maybe a 14.2 but none of those was automatic...the automatics suck bad and if u was to race him on a lets say 20 mph role his probably wont down shift the way it should...Get a Fox and live a better life lol....

While I dont agree with that, I like the 4.6 cars also, well, not n/a only but with boost they are pretty nice. 2v or 4v. I would like to get a 99-04 GT and see what I could do with only boltons and then swap to a power adder but I will probably just get another fox body sooner than later.

Okay, your not fit for this type of debate. Let me break it down for you...let speeds handle this

For one, it isn't all about beating someone in a straight line. Ford did not go into production saying in 1999 that our goal is to beat a light weight 5.0L notch...

Second, do you know how much more detailed the sohc is over the pushrod, not just the actual engine, but the setup. So does good engine to you mean...'goes fast'...

Third, why do you think there is so many mods for the fox platform (79-93)? It is because they have been around so long, these 4.6L in the mustangs haven't been around as much. You can buy the same things for these cars already as the 5.0L's have...sorry, but it is true. They are more on the expensive side, but prices are dropping as demand and cars increase...that is the way supply and demand work. Very simple...

Fourth, wow I wish I had a sohc in my hands...I'll get one that will take you on no problem...let me guess, when you beat the drivers, you think the car is crap, no matter what it maybe. Here is a tip, go out and drive them, get in a scene where the guys know what they are doing and how to drive...good luck!

What do you mean at a 20mph roll it won't downshift the way it should? LOL!

Do you not think the 15.4's are from bad drivers...your hilarious...now get out

Those "stock" heads are ported. That stock intake is "ported"...you also have bolt-ons. You also don't know who you were racing...now is it coming together

The stock automatic anything doesent always down shift right from a 20 roll, grab the shifter and do it yourself!

Power is not everything

Power is not everything. Their is a guy here that has a factory 5 Mk3 Roadster, with a 93 Mustang Cobra 302 and 8lbs blower. At just over 2000lbs he spanks 90% of all who race him. Ford should make a lighter 4.6 it could kill the viper. The gt500 is over rated. A modern Cobra Roadster would make a "MUCH" beater car all around.

Why??

I own an AOD 5.0 with bolt on's that's faster than my stock '03 GT which ran a 14.1.

Doesn't bother me at all

I've beaten plenty of 4.6's in my 5.0 and beaten plenty of 5.0's while driving in my 4.6. This thread is pointless. Nobody is going to win you guys might as well be arguing over imports vs domestics. It will just escalate to the point of no return and get locked until the next 5.0 vs 4.6 thread pops up. Wait another year or two and the 3V guys will be jumping all over everyone as well.

Then it comes down to driver...and that is where in most cases you get "i beat such and such"...etc...etc...

3v's are even quicker
