7.5 or 8.8 ???

this may be a dumb question but , I have an 85 notch 4 cyl that has been converted to a 91 5.0 carb'd. I'm not sure if the rearend got changed in the swap. is there an obvious visual difference between the 7.5 and 8.8 ?? please help ...

Yes the 8.8 is more of a square cover than the 7.5 get a summit and go to the gear page and it shows a picture of the gasket for the 7.5 and 8.8. Hope that helps.

Also the 7.5 has 1 bolt centered on the rearend cover on the top row where as the 8.8 there is 2 equally spaced and not right in the center.

unless it's missing, there should be a tag on the rear end, will have some numbers indicating the gear ratio, then 88 or like 75 etc on it.

real easy to desipher them, you'll understand when you see the tag.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I have a 7.5...Will a rearend out of a 95 bolt in or do I need a rearend out of a fox.
