The proof rating got ripped off the bottle by the stickum' in the back of the box, so I'm not sure if it's really as strong as the stuff I had at your house. Guess I'll just have to fill up a glass and toss it down to find out, huh?

I'm getting ready to do a fairly significant order from either LMR or CJ Pony Parts for a bunch of little stuff for Robby today. I have to figure out the best way to spend the money and who is the cheapest. Both sites have some pretty good sales going on this weekend.

Right now CJ may win out, LMR doesn't sell headliners for t-top coupes.

FWIW I have not had good experiences with CJ. I would see if LMR will price match if possible on what they have for you.

I've had good luck with both of them. LMR is extremely fast on getting me my orders.

I might go with LMR based on that I may have to wait till the end of the month to get my headliner.

I have $1800 to spend, but I need to get the new tires and rent a space to do all of the work with this money. That'll knock off around $600 of the amount. I've already priced all the brake stuff through Oreilly's for $300. I'm sure the fluids, filters, and all the vacuum lines will take another $200-$300. That's roughly $1200 there.

So I guess I better be pretty specific on the last $600.

Well, well, hell!

I got surprised with a $2k band bill from my son's school, yay me.... It's a public school for gawd 's sake! Why do I have to pay two grand so he can be taught by public school teachers, what do you think, am I being screwed here?

What this means to Robby. I'm going to spend $1200 before the end of the weekend and not ask for permission. After tomorrow, all I will be able to say is, I wish I knew sooner (wayyyyyyy sooner, like before I saw the blue car sooner).

I'm not buying the tires now then. I may say screw the band and go ahead and drop the additional $300 on the brakes though. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do that.

This will push Robby's driving date back about a month.

The bright side to this is that I will have time to get the bumpers, fenders, hood, doors and deck lid blasted and painted before his first time on the road in fifteen years. So it won't look like complete sht. Something at least.

Feel your pain, Dave. I had two kids in marching band at one point and had to pay also an annual band fee and for trips, etc. Wonder what our taxes go for.

Very much looking forward to this one. I'm very intrigued to see a restoration project to return a car to stock rather than go fast.

What would a ballpark rate be to blast a whole car? That's my plan for the '66 in my sig once it is extricated from the garage in which it has been hibernating for the last three decades.

I asked how much a car like yours would cost, they were very vague except it would be under a grand.

Sounds good. My father-in-law is going to ask around here (Dallas) since this is where it will likely be done. Under a grand sounds fair. On another note, we finally got it out of the garage today!

Maybe one day things will change for you.

Maybe one day, you'll decide to go to work for yourself. Maybe that business will take off like a rocket, and you'll be sitting in December reconciling your checkbook, and see that you have an extra 12 grand profit for that month after all the purchases are made, and the bills are paid. Maybe that'll go on like that for years. Maybe then you'll build cars that you've only dreamed about. You'll dump 50k into some big assed turbo'd drag radial class drag car, and bail on it after you keep blowing it up. Maybe you'll buy some street rod project that you'll spend stupid money on, only to let it sit for 3 years before you bail on it for less than you paid for it.

Then maybe your work will take a turn for the worse when the economy, and housing mkt takes a dump. Maybe you'll keep holding on,...waiting for things to turn around. Maybe you'll neglect important things like taxes, and get the bills paid by the skin of your teeth and your good credit. Maybe when the economy refuses to turnaround, you have to take a job that you really hate, and you dread going to work again on Monday...Maybe you work that job until the economy recovers enough to make one last ditch effort at the old business.

Maybe it goes good for another couple of years.
Maybe it don't.

You decide to get back into the job market,...Maybe you reply to over 85 different job ad's and get no replies....Maybe your too old to get a good job anymore.

Then maybe one day you get another chance, and the job you get is the one that you shoulda had for the last 10 years. Maybe you're so thankful just to have a good job where you are happy, knowing that you do really good work, and that you are providing a service not easily duplicated by somebody else w/o significant training....

Maybe you sit sometimes, and reflect on all of what you just read.......Maybe you'll be glad to be able to go to work on Monday.

It's neat to see the panels cleaning up.. I have one question though. How are you going to kill the surface rust on the body shell? Chemically, or blaster?

Well, I'll see. It kind of depends on how much comes off with the da. It really isn't bad though. I honestly think it'll all just sand away.

If some of it is deep, I'll take it over to the media blaster guys. They are such a good group of guys, they seem to be willing to help me out on whatever I have to do on Robby. I think they may like fox mustangs. Though they do a lot of work for a restoration shop close to them. It's just easy peasy to them like painting is for me. It's good to have friends!

Edit: BTW, I can get more paint as I need if that gallon goes quick. We're just being picky about how it's poured out so mixing a new batch won't be an issue. Wait till you see this new clear I'll be using on it! It is just stunning. It's so deep looking! Man I love stuff like that!!

Is the clear Sherwin Williams also? I can honestly say until you started talking about them I didn't know they made automotive stuff. That is pretty cool! Can't wait to see it!
