Dave you are doing a fantastic job. Keep your head up on fill and grinding the holes in the engine bay. It is a very time consuming job as I have done it 2 different times with your same thoughts. That all goes away as soon as you get that support and those Scott Rod panels installed. You then get to stand back and go of s$it that looks good.

You are almost there so...get more done as I like pictures

I love this car...But who pays somebody 1.4 million dollars to build it?
I was looking at the paint & body work, and thought that " Daves car will have that caliber of finish." I looked at the detail, and all of the cool little tweaks, and innovations.....and I gotta admit I thought " yeah, so what?"

I've always took inspiration from builds like these, but they always floor me when they reveal how much somebody paid somebody else to do what I kinda did in my own garage.
It's all the CNC fabricated and polish and plated things that I hack together and paint I guess,..but Jesus! Where do these charges come from?

Honestly, that's a beautiful car. It should be for even a quarter of that money.

It really needs more YARD BOOTY to be really special though, huh noobz?

What could I take from that build? IDK.......Maybe some leather straps instead of hood pins? I'm from oklahoma though, I'd have to use a couple chunks of rope.

I'm trying to convince my butt to get out of my comfy chair it's currently sitting on.......it doesn't want to move though.

I'll get out there shortly though and start welding up those extra holes.

Just a little note about a slight modification I'll be adding since I cut the pinch seam out.

I'm going to take my leftover 14 gauge steel and make a firewall reinforcement that I'll weld on the inside of the firewall. It'll have a 90* "bend" that will get welded to the bottom of the lower cowl panel. So it'll be two strips really that I will weld together before installation.

I'm going to make a template out of cardboard today so I can take the steel to work with me tomorrow and use my plasma cutter to cut it out.

This is to provide extra support for that day that I install a strut tower brace. What do y'all think?

Excellent idea. You cannot possibly do enough short of a full tube chassis to ever get one of these cheese whiz bodies stiff enough!

Well.....I was thinking maybe at 1.4.......you know......I could.......

All I did today is weld up the holes I wanted welded up. I did not break my grinder out at all. Tomorrow night after work though I'll get them dressed and I'll get after welding in the radiator support. It may be tuesday before I get to that though.

So I made a template out of cardboard for my small brace.

Then I transferred it over to my scrap metal. It'll be three pieces, the main plate and two 3/4" strips to weld at 90* to the plate against the lower cowl panel.

Tomorrow I'll cut that out with my plasma cutter and bring it home to do the final fitting, then weld it in.

I installed springs on the wife’s car today, checked everything over, test drove and grabbed a Modelo. It was 95, no clouds, sunny, dry and hot as hell here in Albuquerque.

The white Modelos are my go to’s too droopie.

Need opinions again.

I'm thinking of adding a third accent color for the components in the engine bay, like the engine, ww motor housing, etc..

I'm going to have to pick this out soon because there are quite a few things to be sprayed that color.

I'm thinking of a cross of the green and grey. Lighter in tone than the trim color.

I'll try doing a mix with 50/50 of the two colors today to get an idea of that color, I'll show you tonight.

Give me your thoughts, if you would please.

If there's anybody here more capable of picking the right color combination, I'd think it'd be the guy that works with it daily.

Dave! There are guys here still not able to get past your decision to go green, and now you want them to tell you what 3rd color they'd pick in your engine compartment?

You really expect that'll happen?
