Just got a xpipe from upr products. When i ordered it, the guy told me that i would not need the double hump crossmember to install. . he said that it would bolt on to the back of the headers straight to the mufflers- turns out the back of the pipe will not fit into my mufflers and i am ditching the factory ones to get a set of 2 chamber flows. we did not bother taking the exhaust apart once we saw this would not work. Is the flowmaster inlet different than the inlet on the factory ones? i also noticed that the passenger side muffler is bigger than the driver side.

just for note: UPR tech isnt known for being the smartest. You most likely WILL need the cross member.
as for the cat-back, i dont know what to do on that.

i kind of figured that but oh well. i might as well go get a $20 crossmember from the junkyard before we got everything ready to go. i have heard from somebody that the cougar crossmember would work. the back of the pipe to muffler(pipe doesnt fit into factory mufflers)-does anybody have any recommendations?

Are you bolting them onto stock 85 headers? I have "heard" that it will fit only you have to retain the heat riser valve.

I believe the stock manifolds on an '85 are an unequal length....as in the collectors end in different spots because the car originally came with a Y pipe....you might want to pick up some '86+ headers from the 'yard while you're there, unless you can afford new headers. My car had a similar problem but i was ditching the stockers anyways so i never really looked into it.

yea -these are the stock headers and i dont want to spend 200 with shipping on a set of new headers. and of course this is the off road version b/c i was not going to spend 200 more to get the cats when i dont need to pass emissions.

Alright well give us the details after you install it....and tell us if it fits the stock manifolds, cause if it does I'm ordering one as well.
