86 Mystery Mods Progress!

So that bundle of wires are the fuel.pump, im not sure what's what other then there is a solid red, solid yellow and what looks to be a tan and green? In the bundle, but the red is constant power to the fuel pump. The PO had T'd it off of what I think is an airbag power wire from the 93 harness.

At least I can move the car again, and it fired right up and idled nice and smooth, so that's good

Sooo. It started and idled great, then as it warmed up it stumbled a couple times then died. After restarting is doing the 1200rpm idle and cuts out at 3k again/still. Which is what started this whole ordeal. I'll pull codes in a bit. Grrr!

I had the cut out issue once. It might be the tfi moduel. I changed from sd to mass air and had a aftermarket tfi moduel It was causing issues. Just a thought.

Also do you have the correct coil i had after market coil breaking up ignition once. Also the correct plugs for gt40 heads?

As far as the coil, I'd assume so as it plugged into the efi harness, and matches the injectors, it can be seen in the pictures I posted earlier, as far as the plugs, I believe their the same, but may need gapped different for the hotter coil

I looked at coil photo. The wire looks burnt in the plug. I know you fixed a lot of wiring already.

Id ohm out the coil make sure its good.
Set the timing to 12* base. That is with spout plug removed.
Check and gap plugs to .052
Check the wires firing order is correct.
Check cap n rotor.

The throttle doesn't cut out if I get into it slowly, or in a 3rd 4th 5th

Check the things i listed and research the tfi if those things do not fix it. That sounds very much like what my vert did. First time it was a coil issue.

Second time it was after maf conversion. I had an accell billet dizzy with accell tfi that the a9p ecu didnt like. Took awhile to sort it out. Another guy on here was helping me and mentioned the tfi might be the issue.

Have you put a timing light on it and checked timing?

If not id do that as well. Id start at 12* base (with spout out.)

So heres my suggestion updated

You must check and set base timing that is imparitive. Id Set the timing to 12* base——>That is with the spout plug removed.
Ohm coil to ensure its within range.
Check that plugs are correct ones and gap plugs to .052
Check that the plug wires firing order is correct.
Check cap n rotor.
inspect plug wires.
