A Little Competiton

So in my high school you have to do a senior project to graduate, iv always been around cars and engins so i bought a 88 notchback for my project, the whole point is to make it into a drag car by the end of the year. Now here is where the competion comes in, a dude i go to school with bought a 95 comaro LS1 for his project, and now all of our friends want us to race at the end of the year down at KCIR, i think its great, classic chevy vs ford. i know hes going to be running all motor, and im on the bottle already, it should be interesting, tell me what you think !!

Sounds like that show Drag Race High they had on Speed Channel. Sounds like fun. I would have loved to do something like that at my high school. Good luck.

ls1 debuted in the 97 vette. 95 would be LT1. if he stroking it you are going to need a lot more than a bottle to keep up. 2 bottles, better make them the big ones.

95 camaros were LT1s (ls1 is 97+)...shouldnt be too hard to put the hurt on him. they still make more power stock for stock but have weak internals(powdered rods + nitrous = death) and are generally a pain in the ass. Whats your budget for the build?

that 95 camaro can easily be a swapped ls1, people shoehorn that motor into everything under the sun...

LS1 car, with a cam and bolt ons... your gonna have to spray it. If its and LT1 it isnt that much slower than an LS1. I would say let us know what you have done and want to do and a budget.

What kind of "senior project" gives you credit for working on your car? I mean what are you really figuring out that hasn't been done before? Is this a tech school where you are majoring in automotive? That's about the only time i can see a car-related project revalant.

If your education is not automotive tech, then pick something that will give you a little more educational value down the road. I get resumes all the time with guys writing they souped up their Monte Carlo for a senior project in college.

This is Highschool. I remember my senior project was to pick something you enjoy and then spend 10 work hours on it, with a presentation over it at the end of the semester.

lt1 is teh gay...they dont hold a candle to an ls1...got a friend with an LT1 z and another with an ls1 z... i would NEVER buy an LT1 car. stock for stock the ls1 puts it on the lt every time

allready have lots of bolt ons, and new heads, and spray
about 310 wrhp 390 tq without spray

Forged bottom end? If so, go get the spray dyno tuned and make it run nearly perfect. Then work into the launch. Some nice meats out back, upper and lower control arms. Gears. i got 3.73s but im looking to get 4.10s, and theres a suspention kit on the way, but it does alredy have moroso springs all around and its EFI

if the car is a manual keep the 3.73's.

with a little work LT1's are no slouch. I wouldnt turn my nose at one. they have their issues just like every other motor out there, but they can make some serious power.

it is manual, i keep hearing so many differnt things like go with 4.10s or keep what u have, i can launch pretty hard already, what would be the pros and cons of 4.10s

4.10's are great for an auto b/c they help keep up with the drivetrain loss. you wont experience that with a 5spd. with a manual you could possibly run out of gear before you hit the 1/4 mile mark.

I'm in fourth when I cross the finish line with 3.73 5-speed. What exactly are you looking for now?
