Don't quote me, but i believe that head unit will have more of a gear whine over the classic supercharger whistle. Probably closer to what mine sounds like.

If you go through my Progress Thread, somewhere in the middle during my supercharger install i believe i have a 'first start' video that will show what mine sounds like. There's like 60+ pages though. I'll try to find it and link it here but if you have time to skim through my thread you could find it too.

Edit: Found it

appreciate it. Is that the first start up? I'll listen again later when it's less noisy to see if I can hear the gears. I might consider doing some of the install myself but I might just bite the bullet and let Scott at Extreme Mustangs do it all. 3 hrs and some change to drive it there and drop it off

Not sure if you know this but a "bigger" 3.47" pulley is lowering boost. Assuming you have a standard 6.87" Vortech crank pulley, the 3.33" blower pulley would he considered the 10lb kit. It's what Vortech sells as the HO kit and they estimate 8-10psi max. Real world with that combo i saw about 8psi with a powerpipe. When I went to an smaller 3.12" I saw 10 or just over sometimes.

Vortech claims the 8-10lb kit to bring a stock 225 hp foxbody to 331hp. So they are estimating around 10hp per # of boost.

By going up to a 3.47 you're likely see 6 psi maybe 7psi. If you want to use 10hp per psi go ahead and add 60-70hp to your base

This is all just random ballparking of course. But I dont see any reason to go with a 340lph pump here. The fuel pump calculators really get you in the ball park. Do an honest HP estimate. Add 10-20% for a safety margin. Enter that in the fuel pump calculator. If you're under the suggested size I'd go for that.

Yes sounds like that'll make more sense lol. If I get some time I'll copy and paste and just create my own

Yes that was the first startup after installing the Paxton. Hadn't been started in a few months while i slowly got through that installation.

Thanks. Yeah. Vortech make two types of gear sets. The herritage set has straight cut gears. It's louder and whistles at idle. It's meant to be similar to how they were (sounded) when they first came out in the 90's. The other gear set like Komo posted is the quiet helical cut gear set.

Mine doesn't whine at all under boost like a KB would, or like a new Challenger, Charger. The centrifugal superchargers dont sound like that at all.

Oh I see and not sure how important it is to hear that whine under boost, or how special it is necessarily lol. Scott mentioned something about paying about 230 something more to upgrade the gears to hear the noise or something. That was in our initial talks and can't remember if I said v3 initially; I think I did

Is there a Mod around who can merge posts into one thread lol? That would be neat to put it all in my thread cause some good information that I'd kinda want to have in the other thread .

Other than that it's a lot of copying and pasting heheee heheheeee

The twin screws (positive displacement i.e. Terminator cobra, hellcat, etc.) will have that classic supercharger WHINE noise we all know. Centrifugal superchargers (Vortech/Paxton and more) will either have a GEAR sound, or more of a WHISTLE sound. If you really want the whistle sound and you want Vortech, go with the V3 Heritage model.

Otherwise, i don't know if you want to pick a supercharger purely based off sound. The twin screws ive seen, like the KB cost a little more. I think before i bought my Paxton i was looking at the KB and it was close to $5k, whereas i paid $3,500 for my Paxton.

I was trying to remove your post and just post this normal and not quote but don't see how to lmao.

As for the Maf in the fenderwell as in the pic, is there something that will cover it to protect it even though my cars don't see rain unless I get caught out in it lol. I am usually pretty good with checking the forecasts and not getting caught out in or having to drive when it does start; I usually wait till stops or slacks up lmao. Also don't usually hit puddles or anything.

I know @nicholase fabbed up his own aluminum cover to protect the filter. Not sure if they make one premade or not. The fender liner should provide some protection I would think though.

Yeah the guy on Facebook whose pic that is actually someone asked him a question about the filter and he said yeah the liner is going to be on. He hasn't really been responding to questions I guess he's working on his car so but I did ask him about what liner. So yeah I guess it should be okay

So bring us back up to speed on where you are currently and what you want to do?

You have a SN95 Cobra that already has H/C/I and other mods, and you are wanting to buy a supercharger? Just trying to figure out what supercharger and other mods are necessary? Your car is currently at a mechanics shop? Doing what there?

I really wanted to make my own threat after I think it was you who suggested but it's too complicated to try and I would actually like to have all of the verbiage or replies that y'all replied so far in that thread .

Seeing that that is hard to do I'll probably just leave everything in here. But no the car is not at the shop yet I was just wanting to get more out of the car currently because I'm actually building a 331 for my 95 GT Saleen. He has his fourth block that he's checking out hopefully he gets to it he said probably this coming week I believe and hopefully it passes Sonic testing.

So at 190k on the 94 cobra the engine still runs strong good has good compression and everything but I want more out of it so that's why I was thinking to just go ahead and add a vortex V3. He gave me a list of parts things to get and that's why I was doing my own research as to some of the things he had on it as far as the pump size and upgraded wiring.

Call LMR to inquire about the upgraded wiring which he said they sold and the guy was like yeah for a 255 there's really no need to upgrade the wiring unless I'm doing a 340. Sure it would be a good piece of mind or whatever but I think I'm going to just roll with the OEM wiring and not do that upgrade.

Tomorrow when I get to work I will look at my list and update on everything that he told me to get and what I'm actually going to get and put in the place of it for instance on my sheet that it's a 340 but of course I'm going to do a 255 instead.
I'm actually thinking about putting a blower probably the same one on that 331 build as well even though it will be on a stop block I should be around 500 to the wheels and with a good safe tune should be fine for the stock block.

I've seen some cars before that had the heritage and I guess that's just that head and it looks totally different than the V3 so it has just that head and then the plumbing to it so I'd have to look at images to see if I would even like that look. Some things under the hood just don't I thought if it doesn't have an appealing look to me, I don't necessarily want it .
