analog vs digital ignition boxes

well, i just got back from marine boot camp and have some time and money to mod the stang a bit more. On the way is the 255lph and an ignition box and coil. I was looking at the MSD 6al and the Crane hi-6. They are almost identical except that the msd has analog circuitry and the crane is digital. what is the difference between the circuitry types? Pros and cons? And your reccomendation of boxes. I know that if i get the MSD box i will get the blaster 2 coil. But if i get the crane box, which coil should i go with?

also, in addition i saw the Mallory HyFire VI Digital CD Ignition box. It has the same features as the other two with the addition of timing retard. Its in the same price range so i thought id add it in for the comparison. Any input is appreciated. Thanks,
Alex

To not get all technical, a digital box can put out more spark than an analog box and control more features. Comparing the 6al with the Crane hi-6 is like apples to oranges. A better comparison would be the MSD Digital 6 Plus and the Crane hi-6. I would go with the digital box.

if you are comparing the MSD Digital 6, you would have to compare it to the Crane FireBall HI-6TRC CD Ignition box as they both have the timing retard and are in the same price range. The MSD Digital 6 does put out more voltagevto coil and millijoules of spark output. Is that the best way to go right now?

I didn’t mean as far as features, but comparing them because they are both digital boxes. As far as which box is right for you, that would be something you have to decide on. I got my box looking at the overall plan I had for my car. I knew I wanted nitrous and a two step, so the Digital 6 was perfect for me. As far as coils go I went with the Blaster HVC 2 coil(blue one). Good luck
