Any proven E-fan controllers besides DCC?

IMO a DCC unit is by far the best way to control any electric fan which is not otherwise tied into an OEM system (ECU, Cooling System, etc.)

Well said. I'd add that it's great even on a car with OEM fan switching (a la a 1994).

I bought the 33212 dual fan and controller. It fit beautifully and the times I needed to contact Brian, he answered me in what I consider a timely fashion, which was 48-72 hrs. Twice I caught him online and we brainstormed an issue I was having. ( not with controller, but my stupidity). I have nothing but kudos for Brian. I think some people here are just not happy unless they are complaining. BYRDPE, that is in no way a flame to you, sir.

Now that this has been upped.....and I had since forgotten about it. I would still like to know exactly the intent behind the "hrmm" reply. After reading the two quotes again, I am wondering if Baskin is thinking that Luke87 and myself are the same person. If that is the case, allow me to say that we are not.

And also since it was brought back up, and it has been a while since I have had my VW switch installed, allow me to add my thoughts about it now.

It is still working perfectly, my temp gauge never goes above half way (on the stocker), and when the AC has never blown colder....when both are on. However, as I stated before, the soft start feature of the DCC is something I wish I had. Now that I have had time to drive around with my current setup for a while, it IS starting to bug me. At redlights the fan comes on and the idle dips for a second, and the stock battery gauge goes nuts for a second...and the same thing happens when the fan kicks off. Even when driving and the RPMs are higher, the battery gauge still goes nuts when the fan kicks on.

I have no electrical issues, everything was installed correctly and my 3g alt is all wired up properly....it is just that I have the Taurus fan wired in on high speed and it is such a nasty draw at initial startup that it is a "shock" to the electrical system.

I am trying to figure out a way to wire in a soft start relay or resistor, but haven't really dedicated any time to it recently.

I guess if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with the DCC because of that feature.

I would still like an answer though.

Bringin it back from the dead is an understatement...DCC threads are a dime a dozen and this one was just a nasty mess. Anyhow...YES you should have gone with the DCC unit..my taurus was a 747 taking off at startup when you heard it....hit the volt gauge like a hammer. After the DCC install there is no spike....start up is less than 10amps IIRC and with me running the underdrive pins my fan starts at 10percent when ignition is on....my start up draw is 5amps or less and SOOO smooth as it comes up to maintian desired engine temp. Another nice feature is the fan spends VERY VERY little time at or near full speed but temps hold flawlessly at my set point.

I'm going to get a dccontrol.com integral fan, and have had all my emails answered by Brian in a timely manner. Brian was very helpful in my first email and stated it would be two to three weeks for the fan delivery which is pretty good. Hope everyone has cooled down so we can get back to helping each other.

I ordered one for my Capri on 3/27 and he answered every question I had quickly. He sent me an email saying two weeks - so I shifted some stuff around and will just wait. From what I hear, it'll be worth it.

The only thing I didn't do was order one of the indicator light kits when I payed for the FK-35. I have to get in touch w/ him and see how to work it out so they ship together ($$), but shouldn't be a big deal. Dude has been cool and answered every dumb question I could throw at him.
