AODE guys what shiftkit do you have and what setting is it on? (I searched)

Maybe I should not have said slow, its more delayed and kinda shifts hard. But I don't think its hard enough to chirp the tires, but like I said it won't even from a dead stop.

The receipt says
rebuild transmission
install shift kit
$1200

It was done at Express Automotive & Repair in Roxbury MA

I am wanting to do the j-mod, cooler, and TC anyways.

And you are trusting a tranny shop? A stock rebuild kit costs $150+ fluid and then the special tools that an avarge guy's garage wont have $100. These trannys are so easy to work on and I rebuilt mine in 1-2 days. So They paid $950 for labor.

i have a 1800 stall 1hot5.0 and the shifts are still kickass. they didnt change. whoever told u they change back to stock must have had some bad luck, cause i sure as hell didnt. if i caould figure out how id show u a vid of how my car shifts with the stall so u could see what to expect. i kinda lucked out though. when i bought the car, it already had the shift kit and stall.

not really.

I am wanting to do the j-mod bad, but am not sure if I want to get into a project like that right now.

It's really simple. drop the tranny pan, drop the valve body. remove the seperator plate, drill out the seperator plate then install new gaskets and valve body. The only special tool you will need is a in'lb tq wrench.

1800 ins't that the stock stall speed? Are you sure it's not 2800?

Wow thats a lot of money. Someone in Roxbury MA got :owned:
I bet the shop BS'd the guy on the shift kit. They probably drilled out a hole or two and called it a day.

Anyways, you'll be good-to-go with the j-mod, tc, and cooler like you said.

It's drill bits, spring, and gaskets. The rubber acculmators from ford are better. With aluminum parts they can wear out the bores from them rubbing. If you look on the tccoa ite there is a parts list depending on your power what springs acculmators you can get from ford. I use the longest od servo and i have had 0 problems with my od running the hell out of it. There is also alot of good info in the tccoa message boards on shift kits in drivetrain.

I just pmd a guy on tccoa called Darrin that will do one for me. I am not sure if I want to go with him or try it myself.

I talked to Andre at Edge converters (I'm going to get another Edge converter, but the 9.5" street edge 3k stall), and I asked him about the converter softening up, and his opinion on what firmness setting I should put the shift kit on.

He said that the converter will soften up the shifts a little bit, and that he would go with the stage 2 street/strip setting. This setting will work well before the converter, as well as with it. Don't forget, the shift kit is fixing known shifting problems as well, not just firming up the shifts.

I think I'm going to take his advice and have the shift kit put on the street/strip setting.
