Are fewer people coming to the forums?

I've noticed over the last few weeks fewer and fewer new threads and fewer and fewer responses to threads.
Where is everyone?
Aren't the folks who visit this site still interested in our beloved Mustangs. Where is the advice, comments, etc.
I posted a thread two days ago about a new UPR product. No responses. I've seen many threads such as gas mileage that haven't had responses for weeks.
Am I missing something?

Evidentally, you're missing the threads and responses (joke). I've been coming here for about a month now, and it does seem less active in my opinion. I don't track actual numbers, but overall I think that you're right.

I think it's because of the same stuff over and over. Is this exhaust good? What about these wheels? Is this supercharger out yet? Things are getting sort of boring around here with the same info, comments, and suggestions all being the same things!

Personally I've seen a few threads that were just rehashes of what has been gone over before. Some of these are interesting, because opinions and times change, but some are needless, and could have been done without, by using the 'Search'. I'm sure I've done my own share of needless thread-starting!

Sometimes people here are not helpful. In some cases people jump someones butt for stupid reasons. Other times you get sarcastic or snide remarks. Takes away from it all I guess. Back when I first came around here it was a pretty fun place to post and BS with each other about your car. But I guess you have to take the bad with the good.

i have found that i am less active now as well. i read the threads, but choose not to reply to most. most just dont have enough important information for me to reply. that sounds bad, but i am less interested in replying to the same rehash threads over and over. on other sites (which i rarely visit) there seems to be more activity with current topics. here you are hard pressed to find a thread on the new hurst shifter, but on others, it is several pages long. i used to log on and read every reply, but now just skim over them.....i was thinking of why, but i just dont have an exact reason.

These are all valid points. To keep information available and a dialogue going, people have got to post, though.
I don't know if there is a solution, but sharing information is only possible when people post.
And if forums become inactive that definitely will keep people from coming back.

Snide and sarcastic remarks keep me from wanting to post, so you sure have a point there. Most of what I see are SOME (not all, maybe just a few) GT owners dissing everyone else from V6 owners to other kinds of vehicles. My favorite are the macho guys who say a certain brand of car looks like a woman's. 'Driven by a woman', as if that's the worst insult they could bestow upon someone. Doesn't sound like they have much respect for women, myself. Actually, I've noted a few chicks on here that know more about cars than I do! Which isn't saying a lot, as I don't know sheet, but oh well!

StangNet really doesnt appeal to me that much. There really isnt any good hard core tech, especially for Modulars. The site also seems to attract the younger crowd whose extent of mods is a shifter, catback and cold air. I have also heard on other sites about people be banned for some ridiculous reasons.

I have several different forums I go to some times forums hit lulls but they do pick back up at some point. It is sorta like HBO they play the same thing over and over. But sometimes you can catch a good movie in between the reruns.

It seems to me that these forums, tech and talk, are being heavy moderated (deleted instead of moved) in what I consider incorrect ways. This is just one point that makes sense to me.

Interesting point to note. In an effort to determine what you gentlemen would like to see as for moderation of the board, please let us know.

As for banning, all participants are provided the same recourse and probation prior to banning. There are circumstances and conversations that occur in Private Messages with participants that are not shared. It is common that during the warning phase, members hang themselves and are subesequently banned.

You will all note that I have personally withdrawn from active posting and moderation as things have been less disrespectful, albeit slow. Yes, it is slow around here. It will pick back up, it always does when the weather changes.

One thing to note on the members part is the use of comments to initial posters such as "Use Search, this has been discussed in detail before" . This kind of capped comment sends many users who may have valid information away.

I personally have noticed a reduction in activity, but this is really not uncommon after a round of bans and heavy moderation.

If you fellas ever have a comment or complaint about the way I moderate these forums, I would like to know. I am here to assist you as members and aid in maintaining a friendly, respectful environment for discussion. I am not here to dictate or direct. My job is to uphold Mr. Raburn's forum rules. If any of you have any comments that will help, let me know. Here or in private.

Recently, I had a thread deleted, twice actually but once without warning, because it supposedly lacked enough tech related comments within the tech section. It was best described by the admin as a "Look at me" post and then deleted because it did not YET have much in the ways of technical comments.

In the past if this was an issue the topic was moved to the correct forum, NOT DELETED.

I since have posted the same exact topic on another forum and a lot of technical discussion followed since it involves spark plug installation and discussing the neccessary tool to gap those same plugs.

I've been a part of this site for more than 5 years and the recent events are causing me to take my business elsewhere.

I like the community here but this moderation is not proper and takes away from a happy experience. I also expect the admins to remain in a mature maner without trying to disrespect people. Unfortunately, I was treated with a comment that was purposefully meant to anger me.

things come, things go. thats life. site activity is predicated by outside influences like vacations, paydays, etc., the end of summer is upon us. when the throws of winter envelop us-we'll all be more active in the web.

Interesting... I've participated in lots of kinds of forums (cars, guitars, coins, software engineering, etc.).

Posting ebbs and flows on all forums. Weather, the economy, and events in the forum's field always have a huge influence on posting (quality and quantity).

With all that said, you have to take the good with the bad... Just like on the streets...

I will discuss your comments with the other moderators. I sincerely thank you for your input.

As a new moderator, it has taken me a while to get used to the moderator forum controls, forum rules and their appropriate application and interpretation. It also takes a while for someone like myself to get a solid feel for how the other moderators moderate the forums. To achieve a cohesive team, it is best for all moderators to interprete and apply the rules in a similiar manner.

We have a staff forum to discuss differences in interpretations and application of the rules.

I had always respected your input Dan, and would request that you take a lead role then and provide threads that are conducive to considerate discussion. I am not a moderator in the GT Tech forum, so I cannot speak for why items that may start off as a limited technical manner, are moved as rapidly as they are.

Most of the other fellas hit it right on the head. I have been a member of other boards for years and sometimes things slow down. You move on to a new board for a bit and when you peek back in a few weeks later, things are rolling again.

Thank you all for your input. I appreciate all comments, good, bad or indifferent as it allows me to better serve you guys. I am here to assist and serve.

That implies that you are paying for something.

If you have a beef with the moderators and/or the way in which they do moderate, bring it to me or the other Admins/MRaburn.

We want to make this site enjoyable for everyone.

Moderators are there to police and settle disputes between members.
Admins are there to fix the site and settle disputes between members and moderators.

If you do not like the way the site is run, you must talk to someone who can do something about it. Complaining to everyone else and talking about how great other sites are is not the proper way to go about change.

Just some technical advice on you sig...

When you make something bold, change the size of the writing, or change the color of the writing, all of the little tags that are inserted before and after the words that are being altered are counted as characters against the 500 limit.
