i won't mention the situation, but i was pulling away and....

when i was about 15 cars ahead HE blew up.

huge smoke cloud... cars were blinded i'm sure.

i stopped and apologized. he wanted to know what i did to my car. i told him it's a stock pick-up motor.

his car is sitting between exit 24 and exit 19 on interstate 24 in tennessee if anyone wants to check. i feel bad. he had an expensive day. i told him that's why my rev limiter is set to 5500. i guess he should have left his stock.

rods poking out of the side of his block. green ooze pouring out. it's my fault.

2000 z-28 tuner, auto. killed by a truck motor.

btw i am making more power than i was on my dyno day. i am always fooling with it.

for example, the opening on my intake is 82mm. i figured out a way to use a cobra twin 57mm TB i have. 833 cfm here we come. and lots of other stuff i am doing.

1. 11" runner intake
2. new 4" to 57mm throttle body upper intake
3. retard cams ~8.5 degrees
4. 20" x 2.5" pipes after headers with weld on 2.5" x 5" super trapp baffle only mufflers. open for racing.

total cost for inprovements:

1. i already have the 57mm and 4" diameter upper 80 degree elbow = 0$
2. retard cams = 0$
3. i already have 11" intake = 0$
4. 69.95 ea. for mufflers
5. $100.00 to install mufflers and 20" pipes.

ask 01laserredgt how much power that will add.

all motor dude... for me.

the tune has to wait until i get finished. i will probably head down to Tim this spring. i'm hoping the big cams later this summer won't waste the tune. it's time to get it running up to it's potential. i know what the sim says my power will get to, but ican't say until dyno this spring.

i use EA pro v3.3 for the sim. it was 10hp off of my dyno numbers, but i went rich after 4200 so it may have been spot on. i will lose a bunch of torque over the 16" stock runners, but i am hoping to pick that loss up from breathing and exhaust inprovments. i am using super trapp so i can dial in the back pressure it likes on the dyno.

250/340 doesn't sound like 15 on an ls1. and since its sort of hard to drive an auto wrong, seems like his car was running like crap.

edit didn't see your new posts.

but it still sounds like a far cry from 15 on a ls1.

ok maybe i embellished a little. i was watching the road at 140. ha was a ways back. my apologies for the exaggeration.

here is the exact recount.

he was directly beside me.
a car cleared the left lane lane and i passed the car and pulled along side.
we went
he pulled a half car and when his car shifted to the next gear i jumped past him.
when i shifted to 3rd i really started putting mph on him. i was for sure 5 cars ahead when i shifted to od at ~5200
he was falling back.

that's how it happened every time. even if he started in front, when his car shifted and i did i, really pulled away. that's what my car does. from 3000-4500 it pulls like hell.

he did up his rev limiter, or that's what he said.

in perspective of the cars i have raced, he was the fastest yet. no doubt he would easily kill and stock 05 gt. i couldn't believe the way his car pulls high rpm's. i wish i could see my car from another. any 6 speed LS would walk away.

i have to hit it in exactly the right rpm or i won't race. i will lose. even to a bolt on 99-04 if i'm not just right. the lock up murders me.

one time my car will shift at 5500 in all gears and the next time 5000.

Green ooze? Are you sure, because LS1's take Dex-Cool coolant which is orange.

Actually the green stuff causes lots of problems in the aluminum LS1 motors. I was a service writer/manager at a few dealerships and I've seen plenty of coolant systems and heater cores ruined from people pulling out the perfectly good Dex-Cool and putting in the green stuff.

This is why the vast majority of people with GM motors run the Dex-Cool coolant which if used correctly is much better than conventional coolant. The threads you see of people with sludging problems with Dex-Cool are people that did not ensure a 50/50 mixture with water.

Chances are this guy had orange Dex-Cool coolant...that is if this story is even true. First it was 15 cars, LOL, then it was 5 once he got called out. Bill likes to make up fairy tales.

he said he lives in trinity lane. he is a black guy maybe 30 yrs.
red 2000 auto. it happened at ~4:20 pm headed west on 24. i feel bad for him, so this isn't a happy thing exactly. i was glad to get a kill, but REAL unhappy he lost his expensive motor. he said this isn't his first LS camaro. i know how i would have felt. that's why my rev limiter is 5500. i am willing to give up a little to keep it alive. if you know him tell him i'm sorry again.

well the exact color was kinda like the oil color. it wasn't like the old days where you could see it mixed. but it wasn't red for sure. it was kinda muddy looking. i couln't believe my eyes when i saw how much smoke he had.

When are you going to learn that nobody here believes a word you say nor do they care to put any faith in the fairy tales you tell.

Next time you are sitting at your computer conjuring up another fairy tale to post, make sure you at least get some of the made up facts straight. 15 cars on a LS1 with your 249 RWHP 96 Mustang, now that's funny.

What gear ratio do you run Bill?
