First I've noticed anything by Maui Brewing at the local liquor store. There were two more of their brews there; a pineapple wheat and an ale of some sort (can't remember exactly). I thought I'd give the blonde a try and it's so-so. Nothing spectacular...a little on the pricier side as well; $12 for a 6. I don't know that I'd get this particular one again given their pricing...though I do want to try that pineapple wheat at least once.

Ok, this is a very good FULL flavored stout. The first taste will take you aback because it's so sweet, almost beer candy, plus it seems almost thick in consistency

Then your pallet adapts. Then! Boy then it's outstanding. A sipping beer, no doubt, at 12%. What a pleasure to sip.

$15 for a four pack, not cheap.

One of the best beers I had in awhile. Definite recommendation for this one fellas.

There are some fantastic varieties to go along with that beautiful base. This is one of my favorites. . .

There are two main reasons for the high price. First, all of his beers are contract brewed and second, depending on where you are located, they all go through two distributors.

Great stuff none the less!

Went to a friend's cookout over the weekend...it was BYOB so I brought a six-pack of this:

Not bad; I'm assuming it's just local (or regional at most) since it seems to be geared towards the Baltimore Oriole fan base. It's a fairly light beer, only 4.6%, and is slightly hoppy.

My friend also had some of these in his fridge and let me try one...I had seen this before and was wondering what it was like:

Odd name, I know. But it's Dogfish Head's "collaboration beer" with the band The Flaming Lips. I'm familiar with some of their songs so just had to wonder what the beer was like. It's brewed with Dragonfruit and Yum berries; can definitely pick up on the fruity aspect of it and it also goes down with a slightly hoppy finish. I thought it was "just" okay and I probably won't be going out of my way to get it again.

Finally getting around to trying this...

It's okay. It's certainly got the cloudiness of a wheat beer, but I'm not picking up on the pineapple flavor at all. And to be honest, it's just barely tasting like a wheat beer.

I've tried it like I wanted to...but I'm gonna have to give it a pass in the future. Especially since it was $10.99 for a 4-pack.

Back to beer.

Not a bad stout, maybe can taste the orange twist in it, you'd have to give it some thought though.

Worth having just as a stout. I had the first one rather warm, maybe 75*. The second one is probably 40*, I'd like to say it tastes better because it's cold, but it could be because the first one was gone in five minutes and the second had the first to thank for flavor improvement:cheers:

I'd buy it again if I was out of Dirty Bastard and there wasn't anymore at the liquor store.

Oh yeah, I was fresh out of clean tulip glasses........
