Bigger Injectors for 331 Stroker

If I go with a DSS 331 kit, will I need to get bigger injectors than the stock 19lb/hr ones?? Also would and E 303 Cam work well with a 331??

What is all in your combo? Also E 303 vs what? If it's vs stock the E would be tons better. If you want the "best" cam get a custom grind ED CURTIS cam. His user name is EDC. Plan on spendind $325 though.

Absolutely!

No!

y u say no for the cam, if he's building a street car than maybe he doesn't want alot of lift and duration, if its a blower setup than thats a different story.

the money and power of the 331 get a nice cam.. dont even look at teh alpahbet cams...custom would be the way to go. as for injectors, NO 19s! go for 30#ers if u plan on a nice setup with good heads. If u plan on keeping it pretty stock and not changing heads and intake and all that stuf (or not going with real good high flowing parts for that matter) then stick with a 306, it would be a waste of money.

Thanks for the info guys. My combo so far consists of Ported Cobra Upper and Lower, Pullies and Exhaust. I plan on getting the 331 Kit this year, but it will probably not go into the car until winter when I will be able to afford a new set of heads. I was just curious as to running the stock injectors if I decided to throw it together with the stock heads etc.

If you are going to be using stock heads in the beginning, then a set of 19's would be sufficient. You only need injectors on a good flowing setup that is demanding on fuel. When you get a good set of heads, then I would opt for either 24's or 30's. 30's if you plan on a shot of nitrous, 24's if you stick with motor.

I have the stage 3 tfs cam and when funds permit i am gonna have ed grind me up a custom. message him and ask him his opinion. he recommended the 30's to me. if you are planning on moving up to a better head combo then you might as well scrap the cobra. i have it and mine is ported as well and that along with my 75mm mass air meter and the 65mm throttle body are all holding back my numbers.

if you are on a budget then obviously do a little at a time. if you dont have any injectors then just buy the 24's or 30's right off the bat and keep the cobra until it is all done and then when funds permit get a better intake like i am.

if you are gonna stay mostly stock for awhile and dont have much plans for a good build up then just do a 306. in that case if you have the e cam then it will work fine but there are better cams out there.

good luck,
joe

i would say that not even to tie up your funds in the 331 yet. if you dont have the money to do it all in one shot, then wait. i couldnt see spending $2500 for something, and having it sit for almost a year. wait till winter (after christmas, ask for $) and then get a set of good flowing heads.
as for the alphebet cams.... go with an agressive one if your on a budget. the E will do fine, but the F or X (more gains) will do better.
by the way, 24s will work fine w or w/o heads and 30s if you wanna be on the safe side.

why dont u save up a get a long block from dss? get a set of either TFS or Air flow heads, you'll be kickn ur self if you decide down the road that you want a differnt set of heads.. I would personally get the 185 AFR heads and upgrade ur springs, drop the compression down to 8.8 to 9.1 an put a 8# blower on her, an keep it like that, get 55 # low impedence injectors, that intake is fine, get bbk lt with a dr.gas x pipe an spintech cat back.. I personally like crower cams, IMO .. good luck with whatever u choose though !

Thanks for all the advice. As it stands I can get a DSS kit for a very good deal right now so that is why I am thinking get it now put it in next year. By then I would have the $$ for my AFR,s and 1.7RR and all the other goodies to go with it. Blower is something I would love to have but that will be a few years down the road.

Thanks again.

Thats my exact combo basically, I got a custom 331 w/ 8.8 compression, sportsman block, main girdle, light weight SRS pistons, 185 afr heads mild port, upgraded springs, crower cam w/ 1.7''s, 3 angle valve job, TFS track heat intake, s trim , afm power pipe, 75mm accufab throttle body, 80mm MAS, blck magic fan, a/c delete, smog pump delete, bbk LT's, dr.gas x pipe no cats, spintech cat back , 373 gears, plus tons of other stuff, and that car rips hard !! a stroker alone with a killer suspension will scare the crap out of you, that with a supercharger, just add another 160-180 rwhp and you can imagine how it would feel !! Like nothing else !! its ur little jet !
