What fuel setup does the car have? How much gas was in it when it broke? 12psi and 330 hp don't add up at all, but that doesn't mean the tune was bad.

12psi is not too much boost. Mine and a lot of others ran that way for a along time. I had my blower for 3 years and not one issue. Something else was wrong and his tuner should have caught it on the dyno.

12 psi, A/F of 11.9(lean for a blower car) and only 330 hp. That should have sent up a flag.

What should his A/F been at? a range would be good if someone knows, least to highest??

He has a bbk255 pump, with 39# injectors. He said it had 1/4 tank of fuel in it or pretty close to 1/4.

Is that one of the pumps for a returning system? I'm not familiar w/ the BBK setup. That may have been the problem. There are no baffles in the GT tank by default, if you're running WOT and don't have much gas, you'll lean out. I stay out of the boost unless I'm above 1/2 tank to avoid this(per my tuner).

I have a Procharger with 9psi of boost and pretty much all the bolt-ons possible, with the exception of the power pipe for the reason that I'd probably up my boost to about 11-12psi, which I don't want, not on my stock engine. I do remember once, though, I was on the highway going through a wide curve, and although "luckily", I wasn't putting out any boost at the time, the car leaned out for a few seconds cause my gas tank was less than 1/4 full.

It caused my check engine light to turn on, (left fuelrail pressure low). Having said that, yeah, I'll never push the car when it's less than 1/4 full.

Most blower cars are running in the low 11 range (11.2-11.4). The pump being used should have been a 03-04 Cobra pump, SVT Focus pump, Aviator, ect because they have been proven to work with high Hp apps.

The old style pumps will not work with the returnless fuel systems. Many, many 99+ GT owners found that out in the early days for the returnless fuel systems.

he has the wrong fuel pump also he's running more boost than he should. i believe crank case pressure from that much boost on a unprepped engine could cause foaming of the oil from excessive aeration which can lead to bearing failure. but i don't know for sure.

The instructions on my SC say don't go below a 1/4 tank of gas.

What exactly is done when you get a tune afterwards. Is it just reprogramming your computer? Once I'm finished installing mine I'll be driving it 100 miles to get it tuned. Will this be unsafe?

Don't mean to highjack the thread but I think it's related to the thread of safely running a supercharger.

thats just a bit too rich. Should be closer to 11.6-11.8 range.

I wouldn't say it is "too" rich, just on the conservative side. The base tune that KB sends out with their 9psi kit is tuned to 11.1:1. I know this because I used the binary off of one of their chips as a starting point for my tune.

As long as you use the chip that came with the kit, and they knew about the MAF you are using in your sig when it was programmed you will be fine. Just drive it normal until you get it checked out. Also, if you aren't going to a KB dealer to have it dyno tuned, I would just get the a/f checked and send the results back to who you bought the kit from to have the chip reburned.

thats really low HP for that much boost. i have almost 50 HP more with 2psi less! i also think it is on the lean side a little bit.my AFR is about 10-11.3 range

I bought the kit from KB with the 90mm MAF. So they tuned it for that and my 75mm TB and their air box.

I'll be doing the install. Do I need to take it for a tune? Or just the Dyno?

I'm assuming this is the chip I got from KB (with a switch for street or track).

Again, I don't mean to highjack this thread but I think it's relative.

just thought i'd throw my 0.02 Regarding your Friends 01. If the A/F was 11.9 around the entire band then i would say the tune was alright. Althought the best A/F for a blown application i have to say would be around 11.4-11.8. Now since the tune was fine , and the shop that did the install knew he had a BBK fuel pump, that means they thought it was fine to do so. I think the best thing to do at this point is to go back to the shop and talk to those people. maybe they will do the right thing. Unless of course he was really abusing the car.

Im going to say that the car had weak rings/a weak ring to begin with (very low compression)....and 12 PSI just jacked everything up. I mean most people can hit 330RWHP with just 6PSI...12 should be well over 400. Something had to be wrong with that engine.

The chip should be fine then. Just get a few dyno and datalog the a/f ratio. If it's off let KB take care of it. That way, you won't have any warantee issues.
