I am looking for opinions. I am thinking about a MAC fenderwell CAI for my 91 GT. Would I get comparable gains for less money by yanking the air silencer and putting a K&N in the box? Just wondering what y'all think.
I bought a dense air charger, its thick plastic painted with high temp glossy black paint! Will stay alot cooler then a metal one in the summer!! Its got a 6.9 hp gain to the wheels!! Dyno Proven
stock airboxes are fine... i personally think they are a waste of money, mine is fabricated with much bigger tubing with the stock box, the equivilent if not more, and cheap...
If you want one for the looks, then get one. If your looking for power numbers, then just yank the silencer and put the KN panel filter in the stock airbox like you said
I run the stock air box with the silencer removed and a K&N air filter. Fordmuscle.com did a test between the two (stock box with silencer removed and a K&N and a CAI kit) they found no difference at the track between the two with the E.T. and MPH. Here is a link to the article, http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2002/03/coldair/
Save your money and just run the stock box with the silencer removed and a K&N filter. Unless you are going for looks there is no reason to buy the CAI.
