Ok..so i'm looking for a camshaft for a 91' GT. I'm just not sure which one to get. I was thinking about the Ford E303 and then i went onto Comp Cams website and looked up some of their cams.. there was 270S Solid Magnum and then Xtreme Energy XE 268H. They all ran about the same price, i was just wondering what would give me a good rough idle, not too obnoxious but a nice Mustang sound. Also, could someone explain about the lift like .498 and .512, i dont know what they mean. Thanks for the help

You need the heads, intake, exhaust and gears to support a bigger cam. It is of little benefit to add one without the other.

Whatever you decide, call the cam company and speak with them. Be honest and they will get you the right cam for your application.

I am doing exactly what you are planning this winter as i build up my new motor. Im using the Steeda # 18, and with 1.7 roller rockers it will have .510 lift. Lift is simply how much/far the valves open. The others are right, you should really do some work to the heads and intake....along with gears and exhaust to take full advantage of a cam. U need to know the exact specifications of your motor to properly select a cam. a cam simply shifts the powerband up. Im not sure why u just want a ruff idle, but a cam isnt the right way.
