Hey guys, I'm new here and am going to look at a 67 coupe tomorrow. They say that it has a 302 in it, but I'm trying to find out if its a 302 and not a 289 for sure. I know its not easy to tell unless you know what to look for. I know they didn't put the 302 in until a little ways into 68, but they didn't say it was the original engine either. I've also heard that if its a 5 bolt bell housing that its not a 302, only the 6 bolt is a 302, but I'm not sure I'd be able to tell by myself. Another one I've heard is in regards to the dipstick placement, but Idk about that one. This is the only engine picture they have posted. I'll definitely check the casting number and if its 67 or earlier, I'll know its a 289, but if its 68 or newer, it could be either.
It's a dealership and I'd like to go in there with some ammo if at all possible, otherwise I'd just ask them straight up. Thanks guys!
