cobra vs gt

just curious so i seem more knowlegeable when talkin to my mustang friends...what makes the 2001 cobra faster than the gt. i know its horsepower but if they are both 4.6L how does the cobra kick out 60 more horses. probably a question that makes me look really dumb but o well.

although the engine size is he same there are many difference to contribute to the power difference.

Gt single overhead cam, two vavles per cylinder Heads and intake much smaller so flow of air fuel less.

Cobra double ovehead cam 4 valves per cylinder, much larger heads and intake. more flow

Cobra also has different trans and rear gear ratio which also contributes to a faster car.

just some highlights!

They don't have different rearend or tranny's...A 2001 GT and a 2001 Cobra both come with 3.27 rear gears and T3650 transmissions...

ummmm thought the GT's still had the T45 and only the 01 Cobra has the TR3650????

Negative. Ford switched from the T-45 to the TR-3650 midway through 2001 GT production.

All 2001 Cobras and Bullitts came with the TR-3650 from the factory. Some of the 01 GTs had the T-45, while others came with the TR-3650.

ddamn... so much for givin him that shifter from the 98. wtf am i gonna do with it now? no one is gonna pay top dollar for it from me over a store online. brand new, never installed pro 5.0 for a T-45!!!!
