Costum Sub Box?

I have a 94 coupe and I eventually want to get eaither 2 12" and a 10" or 2 15" and a 12". I want to build a costum box and put the two bigger ones on the outers of the box and the smaller one in the middle. Kinda hard to explain but it looks good in my head. My question is do any of youall have a costum sub box that looks good? Pics?

Generally using different sized subwoofers leads to cancelation, lowering output.

Ok, I have 2 10's in a fiberglass box and they pound. Depending on what you want I strongly advise not going with 2 15's. (personal choice)

You have to consider the type of music you listen to, 15's are usually sloppy. You would be better off with 2 10's or even 12's. I was once told that one 10 makes x number of db adding another only increases by 2db.

To me 3 subs is a little over kill but my personal choice and just friendly advice.

My friends have installed 15' in there cars and they flat out sound like crap. 15's can't handle any music with a good base line, they just don't have the response and hit that you'll probablly want. 12's can depending on what music you're listening too and what box you put them in... bigger is not always better, either with the subs or with the boxes you put them in. I'd have to recommend 10's, but then again... that's just me.

Oh, and as with any system... for the love of God, get some dynamat or something. I can't stand hearing cars that sound like they're fixing to fall apart because of that rattle...

That's a very nice installation on those 2 10's.

Do not and I repeat, DO NOT combine sizes of subwoofers. Their phases will not be the same and you will hear base twice from the 2 sizes and it will absolutely sound like crap.

15" Subwoofers have more of a rumble, like thunder
12" Subwoofers have a more steady bass line and respond well to rap/r n b music
10" Subwoofers are perfect for rock, jazz, and most any application with a great "punch" for bass

Watch with the Kicker square woofers, each woofer acts like 1 size larger due to it's square design. So if you want 12's, get the Kicker 10". My personal favorite Subs are either Infinity Kappa Perfects or the Audiobahn Eternals. Both are massive speakers with astounding power handeling capabilities. Let us know what you choose and how it turns out!

My wimpie little sub box, custom made by a carpenter customer of mine: inside dimensions 13 x 13 x 9.5", 3/4" MDF and holds just one 10" sub which, believe me, is more than enough (for music inside); total cost $20. Bass response is best when the cabinet sits in a corner, so it's mounted by bungees to the passenger side in the trunk. Also removable that way to get at spare tire if necessary (note handles and banana plugs attached to wall speaker jack). If you want sheer decibels and scr*w the quality, go with ported boxes, which will need to be more than twice the size, the weight, a commitment to give up any usability of the trunk (lol). IMO

Well thank you all for that input...I still don't know what I'm going to go with yet, but I'll figure it out someday. What do you all think of Alpine Subs? Or Alipne in general, as in Head Units, Amps, Speakers?

Very Nice! I thought you were gonna install the polished nickel satin handles?
