critique my build

I'm not normally one to point out or care about a signature, but yours made me laugh. It is VERY true. My 88 is quite fast for the money I have invested. The most expensive part is quite literally the nitto 555R drag radials at 150$ each. My 97GT is cheap and reliable, but not fast by any means. :rlaugh: I imagine I'll never have a car that is both fast and relaible. lol
Sorry, I have no tech to add.

I think i got that quote from someone on hardcore50.. i cant remember though. Its so true though. Go fast stuff is for sure a unforgiving money game. And the faster you go the faster your bank account disapears. lol

Me too man, I've been a dick for the past two weeks for unrelated reasons - so forgive my condescending remarks. As for the tranny, keep me posted - i did a lot of research before i dropped mine and talked to a lot of knowledgeable people(although mines only rated for around 550hp). Torque converter is key as its something that often fails with high power levels and always requires you to drop the tranni even if it's warrantied for replacment. I went with spec-rite (10" 3200) because they were semi-local and I've personally seen them used in a race capacity with great reliability - but it's not a very drastic design, i.e. i would say get them if you were only spraying once and a while and could get bye with a well built single piece design. You need a three-piece. Most well known for that would obviously be PI, they have a bumpy rep in some places like Patriot does for heads - if i got one and had gobs of power a Billet cover would be a must. A personal suggestion would be to looking into DirtyDog performance, if i bought another TC it would be a 10" 3400 by him - he'll really tailor the TC to your car as he will explain a 3400 on one app is a 3000 on another. I haven't heard anything about Broader's TC's so i have nothing good or bad to say about them. Edge is a good choice as well, they aren't as light as some but i've heard of good reviews for their pricing.
As for Foxlake, they are a great choice - never heard a bad review of thier parts, only the amount of time they had to wait.
But in general, I don't think you need to worry about the 4R being the weak link. A stock 4R that's taken care of (i.e. cooler) takes more abuse than TR-3650's, and a built one can handle whatever you build it for no problem. The guy who helped me with my build who's been doing them for 10 years said the weakest parts are rated and good for 550hp (446rwhp or so) or so, but he'd bet it'd take 500rwhp+ the ground all day long with proper servicing and cooling. And that's with my relatively budget build.

I have heard of dirty dog too. And again, they came highly recomended. I was going to run the B&M w/fan cooler up front behind the cobra fog light. thats where my brother has his, and its where i have seen another 03 cobra run his on his 4r swap. And there was a guy that did the v6 4r swap, which is what i had done all the research for my 95 on, He was running 10.50's on a stock trani with no problems. SO i know they can hold up. 3500-4000 was where i was planing on having the stall done. I was just hoping that i would get more info from people that have built cobras to these power levels. It seems like when i ask the questions, all the guys that have done it disappear. Frustrating.. My plan is to have my novi in the beganing of the year, since i have been saving for all of this year. And then pull some money out the beganing of next summer and get the motor. And between now and then finish the other crap like suspension and fuel. I have most of the suspension done on the 95, so that will swap over. Im glad i didnt do the big trani swap on the 95 now that i know im changing everything .
where are you located?

I'm located in San Diego, i lived in Nor Cal for 20 years and went to Infineon somewhat often as i raced for free when i worked for Royal Petroleum. As for people with experience, finding a B headed cobra with a 4R running 10's might be rare when looking for advice, although there is 04YELLOWGT who's running a T-trim and was deep into the 11's with the stock 4R in a 2V who is now running 10's with the built 4R: http://forums.stangnet.com/756428-finally-member-10sec-club.html

well, not that it means anything, but there was a guy with a 98 vert cobra in 5.0 mag. (i know magazines are just wonderfully reliable sources of false info) he was running a t-trim i believe, through a AODE and was hitting either 658 or 685 rwhp, and running 9.80s on radials. So if i can get the car down to even a real low 10, im sure that would be enough to scare me.. lol Though after driving, 125cc shifter karts, 840rwhp dirt modified circle track car, crotch rockets... who knows. lol THe guy that owned the dirt car is buying a alcohol dragster soon, maybe i can talk him into driving that. Id love to run a 7-8 sec pass for the hell of it!
