My suspension hasn’t shipped out yet, but they told me when I ordered it was 2-3 weeks out, so hopefully it’ll be shipping very soon. In the meantime, I have plenty of work to do in the garage in preparation. Sunday I spent the day insulating and I put a counter/workbench in the corner. The bottom 4 feet of the walls will be OSB, and then pegboard above that, all the way around. I need to run electrical circuits for the new compressor and powder coating oven and I can continue with the insulation and wall coverings.

I’ve been debating between doing the RapidAir plumbing kit for the air, or just plumbing with black iron pipe. Anyone use the RapidAir system? Just curious if you guys any advice or tips on that.

I absolutely LOVE your shop, but I think you might consider taking the gas can off the stove before you start powder coating.....just sayin'........

My full time job is 24 hour shifts, and then I work a part time job between that, so finding time to get work done can be difficult. Last evening I was able to get those electrical circuits done for the compressor and oven. I still need to install the vent for the heater and I can insulate and cover two walls. I just want to be totally organized before I seriously disassemble the stang. I placed a small order from summit for a few miscellaneous tools I’ll need and didn’t own.

Pinion flange tool and inch pound wrench to check pinion drag

Dial indicator and base for checking back lash and future engine work, etc.

Also figured I should add gas to my flux core mig so I’ll have nicer welds for subframe connectors. What’s the best gas for that? Straight CO2, or an argon blend? Any tips?

I also ordered some new air tools. This is the 1/2 inch impact, a die grinder and cut off wheel should arrive Friday or Monday. Several other shipments inbound as well, I’ll update when that happens.

Thanks guys. I’ll pick up a cylinder sometime this week. I need to refill my oxygen and acetylene cylinders anyway. Yesterday I was able to make a little progress on the walls in the shop. I have a couple evenings available this week to keep going. First priority is running the vent for the heater and finishing the gas line and I’ll be able to fly with the remaining insulation, OSB, and pegboard. The pegboard is going to be handy AF. The RapidAir kit arrived as well. For the price and simple installation, I opted for this rather than plumbing with black iron.

Just a little more progress on the interior of the garage Thursday evening. Finished insulating the back wall, OSB, and pegboard. Also installed the B-vent for the heater. I’m in the middle of a 48 hour shift right now, but when I get home in the morning, I’ll finish running the gas line so the north wall can be insulated and covered as well.

Also received a tracking number for the first half of my suspension order so there should be some good pr0n to look at in just a few days. Unfortunately the rest is still at least two weeks out but that’s just fine since I’m still not really ready for it anyway.

Half of my suspension parts arrived from MM on Thursday. I went with coilovers on all four corners with 350 pound springs up front and 200 pound springs out back. There’s upper and lower rear control arms, shocks and struts with the “sport” valving, CC plates, bumpsteer kit, full length SFC’s and all associated pieces. I also ordered a K-member, front control arms, and pan hard bar, all of which were about two weeks behind this initial shipment, per MM. Also inbound are a terminator rack, MM hybrid steering shaft. I need to research if the stock Fox PS lines fit the 2003 rack or will I need new lines as well? I went with this setup after speaking with the tech support at Max Motorsports and was told this would make a nice handling car that won’t be too rough for regular street driving. I hope I’m not disappointed.

I’m still trying to get the garage finished up and I’m almost there. I needed to order a few more pieces for the shop air plumbing but I should have everything tightened up by next weekend. Then it’ll be go-time to start dismantling the mustang and gettting the new suspension, brakes and wheels/tires under it. I have sadly come to the realization that I may not get to drive it until the spring, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. There was no way I wanted to tear into a project of this magnitude with a garage that wasn’t ready for it. Just asking for headaches. Anyway, pics of the goodies:

Also if any of you guys are in the market for a nice bench/table for your workshop, I picked this guy up from Sam’s Club online for only 150 bucks American. It’s rated for 800 lbs and seems like a quality bench. 48” wide:

I was able to get the bulk of the plumbing completed for the air in my shop last night. Still lacking a couple fittings, lol. It’s like plumbing a house, make sure you have a full tank of gas for all the trips to the store. Even making a list of parts needed, I find I missed a bit here or there once putting it all together. Oh well, should be totally done this weekend. I’ll also finish up the pegboard this weekend and if I get crazy, may drop the rear end out of the car! I did get enough air lines done to fire up the new impact gun, so I thought I’d try it out by zipping the old hubs off of my JY 95 spindles. Also removed the old crusty dust shields so these bad boys are ready for media blasting and powder coat. Hopefully pics of parts actually going on the car will begin to flood this thread real soon. Last nights shenanigans:
