I have a question for all of the great minds out there on this stang forum. I am a recent college graduate with a good job and have finally saved up enough to afford my first car. This is where the decision comes in, I have made a list of cars and narrowed it down to four possible choices. I wish to hear other peoples' opnions on the cars left on my list. The decision comes down to a 2005 Mustang GT, Nissan Altima 3.5SE, Honda Accord V-6, or a Nissan Titan. I have decided that I can wait as long as February to make the purchase. My current car is reliable, but possess all the exictment of plain oatmeal. I want something more exciting, being young and single now seems to be the perfect time for a vehicle with some excitment.

You're trying to decide between a 4 door sedan, a pickup truck and two different 2 door sporty cars?

And what do you thing people on a Mustang site are going to tell you?

But since you asked, Captain Obvious to the rescue. The answer is obvious, get a Mustang GT. 30 years from now you will have many fond memories of your 2005 Mustang GT.

If you buy any of the other 3 vehicles, 30 years from now you probably won't even remember that you wasted your money on a Titan, Altima or Accord. They are not bad vehicles, but all 3 are very bland and "forgettable".

I know I might seem to easily find an obvious answer from this forum, but apperciate the reasoning behind the responses. I have asked a similar question on other forums and each of them say go Mustang! Well I still want more opnions and want to thank those taht are putting some thought to thier responses. As for New22003's suggestion, Arrrghh! not a Rio!

What do you mean by "afford"? The Altima and Accord are boring FWD crap for middle aged people with families, and the Titan is just plain lame. If you can't afford to pay cash for a new 05 I'd say get a used 99+ Mustang GT. Check your paper. People are practically giving them away now that the 05 is coming out.

What about a Scion? Might as well throw that into the pool. Seriously, If you are trully asking, the Mustang is hands down the best choice.

Well I haven't heard to much about the tC, but its still a Toyota, and well they are kinda bland. Reliable, but Bland. I guess I would have to see more on the Scion tC to consider it, but it has a long way to climb to overcome my prior opnions.

I have pretty much the same dillema(as in...recent grad, new job, money by next summer), except my choices of cars are a little different. RIght now I have a 1994 GT, and a 1996 Neon (winter beater ) I can't decide between:

2005 Mustang GT
Wait a year for STV model
1971 Barracuda or 1970 Challenger
1969 Mach 1 428
or a more respectable winter/year-round car like a WRX or soemthing

I too am having a tough decision.

I am trying to decide between a Saleen S7 and a Hyundai Santa Fe.

'05 GT Mustang is the obvious answer. Here are some pluses and minuses of some of the other vehicles though...

The Titan looks nice, if you like absurdly huge pickups. If you want to go the pickup route, though, I would go with a single cab HEMI Dodge Ram - about the same price range as the Titan, maybe cheaper - looks better and sounds way better too.

V6 Altimas are pretty quick and probably more roomy than the Mustang but if you're interested in buying a Mustang you're already willing to sacrifice a little space for more power and better looks. If you plan on getting married and popping out kids in the near future though this is a good choice. The slightly different look for '05 on these is an improvement.

Accords you could pretty much say the same things about as the Altimas - both reliable, both sporty leaning towards "dad wanted sports car, wife wanted full size sedan, and they sort of met in the middle."

Scion tC is the first Scion designed for sale in the US that wasn't a shoebox (xB) or a doorstop (xA) already driven in Europe and designed to cram into tiny parking spaces. For a FWD, for its power, and for its price, it should be a top choice for ricers but Toyota has that reputation for bland but reliable. I don't like its tail end - it doesn't fit with the rest of the car. The interior is not at all bland and the roof (all glass, I think) is pretty cool. Not for me, but cool.

Anyway, I still say '05 GT is the best choice - and this coming from a guy who said he'd never buy a (new) American car again (nothing unpatriotic meant, I've just had horrible experiences with Chrysler/Jeep and GM). This is the best (affordable) sports car I think Ford or anyone else has made in decades.

I voted Honda. If your having problems making a choice between those cars, you probably dont have the problem solving skills needed to open a box of pop tarts. I could see if your chaice was maybe Mach 1, 03 Cobra, 350z, 06 GTO, somthing cool. Thats like a choice between my Dentist, Dmv, or Bikini contest. NO BRAINER

Wow, thanks alot for the great response so far! I have been thinking since I made my post that maybe I have been to quick to close the door on other models. What would be some other reccommended cars? I do have a couple of things I do need in a car though: 1. no small cars, I'm a tall guy I don't fit in small cars, and yes I have tried. 2. I want something with some excitment, my Camry is just so bland it almost puts me to sleep. 3. I want some power. 4. Its gotta look good

I suppose I needed to add a couple of things. 5. I plan on spending about 25,000 dollars on the vehicle give or take a thousand. 6. I do plan on buying a house in about two years, but I have a separte fund in which I am saving for that so I would not be blowing all my savings on a vehicle. 7. I'm single, It'll be at least a few years until I'm married and several years until I have kids, this vehicle will be likely traded off before kids at least. I hope this helps a little

based on your situation, I would definetley go with the mustang. The mustang is an attention getter, the accord and maxima are good for families, and the titan, is a nice truck, but you'll have to gas up more often, and dont forget it's an imported TRUCK. Based on the cars you're interested, you'll have the most fun in the stang and not regret your decision later.

If that's the price range you're working with you might as well replace the Accord with its sports luxury cousin, an Acura RSX type S.

If you want to go a little higher than $25k, then you can throw in one of the lower-end versions of the Audi A4, a 325i BMW, a base or Enthusiast trim level 350Z, a base Saab 9-3, and a base G35 sedan or coupe (the better looking coupe goes for about $1200 more). That's working off new car MSRP though and you can probably find better deals if you shop around - esp. with the '04s being closed out to make room for the '05s.

If you like the Mazda RX8 (I don't like rotary, but they look nice even if they sound like lawnmowers) it goes for around $25k. You can even get the cheapest Benz, a C230 coupe for around $25k.

There are a lot of choices... the best thing to do if you can't narrow things down is to make a spreadsheet of features and compare cars. While the '04s are being phased out though, if you decide not to go with an '05 Mustang, it's best to buy soon while dealerships are trying to get the '04s off the lot and will give you better deals.

If you were really thinkinga bout sedans, I say go with the Mazda 6. Two of my friends own them and they are VERY nice for the money.
