I'll be putting in a cam (hopefully within the next month) and was wondering about the degree settings for a cam. I was hopeing to get a slightly better than stock timing chain, something with the degree settings on it. I have the E-Cam. Also, how will the settings on the cam vss the timing advance effect each other?
Just so you guys can figure on what i'll be runnin...
3.73

BBK cold air
timing currently @ 14*

If your running the stock heads and intake I'd start with advancing it 2* as it will pick up more low end which is a plus as even with P&P stock stuff its not going to make power all that high in the rpm range.

Remember advance= pickup of low end
retard= pickup of high end

So when those jegs Kasse heads get down to 700 bucks for both cuz everyone thinks they're too high priced, i could pick up those and then the typhoon intake and then i could retard it, right? ( can ya tell i'm broke? )

I don't what heads you are refering to, but yes you could retard it at a later date to move the powerband up in the rpm range to take advantage of the higher rpm breathing capabilities of aftermarket heads and intake.

the new KAASE heads are a canted valve design, allowing for more flow with less resistance. You can do a search on the 5.0 Mustang Tech site for KAASE and it should show up. You can also go to the Jegs site and look up info on them there. Watch out, they're supposedly as good or better than your AFR's...
Just quite expensive!

I saw them in car craft or a similar magazine today. They listed for $1600 in the mag, but it said they were a 245cc or so intake chamber??? Man, that's freaking huge for a 302. Is that all they are available in?

That's something along the line of an AFR 225. That would be funny. The car wouldn't move until 6k.
