Does this bar make this K-Member stronger or weaker?

Been doing a lot of research and reading and stuff like that. I noticed that the UPR K-member -- http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=299 has a tube or bar that runs from the lower tubing to the top of the engine mounts. Does that really make a difference or is it just a design change so they can call it their own? I know that the MM has better geometry but sticking strictly to strength, does the bar do anything that would be considered better?

Thanks

It looks like they just designed it that way, still don't understand what you mean though, they tied the motor mount to the bottom of the member

In any case since you're comparing to MM's K member it's nowhere near rigid, the UPR is ment to be lightweight and mostly for drag
