Dumb question on clearance

When I lower my 04 gt, i'm only going to drop it about 1-1.5. From the pictures i've seen, there is still a bit of an unsightly gap, so i'm thinking of doing 18x9 rims (steeda pentar), but instead of a 275/40/18, i'm thinking 275/45/18, keeping the overall tire/rim taller to fill in the gap. Do you think this will cause issues with rubbing?

BTW, while i have your attention, does anyone have pictures of steeda pentars on a 99-04 stang?

Standard would be 275/35 not 40. And making a higher side wall will barely close any gap - and raise the car off the ground as well. Plus sidewall flex. Won't look so hot if you ask me along with throwing off your speedo

I have 35's and hate them. way to thin. like someone else put it to me before I didn't listen, it will look like rubber bands around your wheels. I had 40's before, and were ok but I think next time around I'll go with 45's.

The larger the wheel diameter, the more the appearance the car is too high. The less side wall showing seems to accentuate the gap. I'd recommend staying with 17's if you don't want to drop your car too low and still look good.

Like everyone else said it won't make the gap any less and will only raise your car more.

Imo, you should lower it more. The number one thing in making a good car look great is it's stance!!!!

Never really got down there and measured it but I would say i'm about a 2" drop and with 17" wheels there really isn't much gap.
