hi guys i was wondering if you think i could see power gains by switching to a custom cam. Right now i have the F303 cam in my car...Its an 89 302 with AFR 165's, cobra intake, 24# injectors, built AOD with 3200 stall (all other bolt ons). Would you recommend me to order a custom cam to match my combo??? from who??? roughly how much??? and i was also thinking about having the cobra intake ported to match the afr heads???

hehe, i am not a pro, I just did very well with my combination. I did a custom cam the same time I freshend up my motor, got my heads and intake seriously worked, and went to bigger injectors, So I really cant say it was all the cam. The F cam is a decent cam, I personally have never favored motorsport cams in teh least, but I would think there are better gains to be made... hehe, Like I said, I am not a pro, i just know what worked for me..

if you have the choice and more importantly the funding your best bet would be a custom grind, an f cam is ok but it is a mass produced cam, with this in mind it is not tuned to any specific combination but a general combo. a custom cam is a one of a kind just for your car, and you cant beat that(IMO) you tell them what yopu want how fast you want to go and what youll be useing your car for DD ect.. after i bought my first custom cam ive never bought pre grounded cams again. just my 2

I think the way your phrased your title should be all the answer you need. "Is the F cam GOOD ENOUGH" it sounds like you know that your settling. There are some great OTS cams, but custom is what it is....a cam designed specifically for YOUR combo. If you have the funds and the rest of your combo is pretty much set, I would go custom. I went with Jay Allen and am very happy. I don't have any other cams to compare it to other than stock, but I don't have any of the issues I read about before getting one such as a rolling or hunting idle and such.
