Well, the 96-98 can run 11 easy. And there are many guys doing it, take some stock 99+ Heads, Port them, get some cams, all the Bolt-Ons and Headers, get some suspension work done, lose some weight, and your done. The car will make about 320-330HP and run low 12's high 11's depending on traction ect, once the 99 herads go on the 96-98 cars there is really no dif between the 99+ and 96-98, except the 96-98 will have more comp. Go to www.modulardepot.com and check out some of the NA 4.6 cars, there is some guys running 11's on STOCK heads. Just cams and bolt-ons.

I wouldn't say they can run 11 easily, nor would I say there are a lot of those cars out there.
A friend of mine has a 96. He went with Fox Lake aluminum ported PI's, Bullit intake full exhaust, all the rest of the needed supporting parts etc etc and he's making 270 rwhp and around 300 torque.
I suppose that if he cheated with a spray of nitrous he'd be in the 11's though.

I want to say that if it has happened thats great and my hats off.I did not put out the :bs: because maybe he's able to get that less than 2700 lb car to go that fast,I'm assuming that it weighs less than that!!

There is a guy around here by the name of rodney that has a 03'mach that weighs in at a tune of 2900lbs.This guy is an awesome driver with a ton of seat time with his car and pulls 1.50 shorts with it.I have seen this car dyno and has put 313rwh/329rwt.The best time to date is 11.98@113 so thats why I say if this guys car isn't under 2700 with him in it than he's hard pressed to go [email protected] n/a with a 1.57 60' and not to mention that rodney's car has 430's a ton of suspention and will rev all the way to 7000.
I believe the car weighs 3100 LB'S.

Your forgeting that PEAK hp/tq does not mean much. Its the area under the curve that makes cars fly. Plus, your comparing two completely different engines.

Yeh Joe, you can't compare stuff like that. My dad's NA 91GT weighing 3350lbs with driver runs 11.95 at 115mph... 3350lbs isn't a super lightweight and the dyno numbers are only in the 310-320rwhp range. Do not get caught up in peak numbers like Jesse said. Its all about making the most power in the useable rpm range that you are in going down the track. I run 111mph at 3670lbs with just a hair over 293rwhp... if you do the math that doesn't really add up, but the car runs what it runs.

I do NOT buy that its easy to get 96-98's into the 11's, even with the increased compression associated with a PI head swap. I am NOT going to get into a pissing contest here about it, but I HIGHLY disagree with that statement.

Say, I didn't even realize that I left off the race weight from the web page...my bad. The car is pretty light for a 94/95 @ 3250 with driver (I'm 240lbs).

You guys are completely correct about the peak V. average numbers thing. Keep the car up in the revs and the power flat and you'll go faster every time.

1. 2700 pound non race car 95? LOL

2. you need to look at the 4.6 power band its real peaky. not only is his flat and broad, that dyno is not the current tune.

if you wanna try to dyno race, look at the racubg powerband and average power not peak
