Then you would be driving a V8 dune buggy with a decorative fibreglass fascade. I like driving my mustang.

I'm not saying build a dunebuggy . Take a rotting mustang body with good floorpans, put a cage in it, subframe connectors and whatever to support it, like the dunebuggy guys do in a beetle, then cut the rotten body off, and plop a fiberglass shell over the whole thing. Then you have a light fiberglass mustang that can be streetable.

You know K K your a douche. Who are you? How do you know if I would get beat by a Vette? If I want fiberglass and a cage that dosent mean its not a stang.... it just means that I'll beat your heavy ass..... normaly I respect people opinion, but I dont respect yours. You dont seem to have anything to say. (I like this, makes me think about how if I saw you I'd SET YOU ON FIRE)

Hmmm, and how do you suppose you could beat a vette with just headers, an H pipe and an intake? Not happening, even if your 19666 is as "badass" as you claim it to be in numerous other posts. UNLESSSS.....those 1 1/2" lowering springs add like 300 rwhp?

Well you could always do what I did a year back. I was driving my Uncle's 65 GT down to the store, on the way there I passed a speed trap with a cop sitting there waiting for people to blast by, he would radio another group of cops lying in wait to have them stop the speeder while he kept radaring people. On the way back from the store, there was a beat up POS Acura with the stickers that make it that much faster which pulled up to me at the stop light. He revved, so I revved, he started acting like he wanted to race, so I acted like I wanted to race. The light turned green and he gunned it and I left at a normal pace, when I finally caught up to him, he was pulled over getting a ticket and I just politely waved to him. I didn't get to see his response, but I'm sure he was letting me know I was no.1 with the middle finger.

He sure taught me a lesson that night....

i think stang master is right. why do we spend time updating our motors to new specs with fuel injection and turbos and updating our brakes but not our bodys. i would definately love to be able to shed pounds of my car. but why only fiber glass? some one should really step it up an dproduce some carbon fiber parts for our classics, (and not just one hood for 65 to 66s) how about a carbon decklid, or front fenders, hell i would even like lightweight aluminum parts if i could get em.

every per formance minded car should consider weight reduction as part of an overall plan. it improves fuel economy, the feel of the car, and makes it easier to go around corners. with less weight you can have a (slightly) less powerful car and have the same performance with more reliability.

well tahts my .02

I've got a fiberglass hood a few years ago for my 73 stang. Boy did sheding that extra weight over the front end really improve my car's handling. I have thought about buying a fiberglass front clip. I'm a little nervous about doing that because I know that fiberglass would not absorb as much energy in a wreck, but of course I'm not planing on wrecking my stang anytime soon.

Maybe I could do the fenders and keep my 80lb bumper. Even the trucks you see on the road nowadays don't have bumpers as tough as my old stang's. I always wonder what they were thinking when I see what new cars bumpers are made out of. All that plastic and styrofoam seems pretty pointless to me.

jikelly, I thought like you about the design of newer cars but a lady in a toyota corola rear ended me at 25-30mph while I was driving my wifes Thuinderbird SC and afterward I looked in the rear veiw mirror and couldnt believe the damage to her car all the way to the crumpled hood. When I got out and looked at the back of the t-bird it was scrapped but still intact. I was very impressed and just touched up the marks and pocketed the $800.00 insurance $ for more important things. My 66'.

I think carbon fiber is a good idea if it looks decent painted? Which I haven't seen. Stronger than aluminum and lighter than anything, but it would be incredibly expensive.
