Your interior looks very clean. Appears you broke up the red nicely with the black seats, door inserts, and black carpet. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Didn't make the alignment shop today. (No surprise there) I decided to take two steps backwards instead. See, the drivers door stripe has always kinda bugged me since putting it on (I always thought it was lacking something). I decided to add an accent color to the stripe to make the "mach 1, and center stripe stand out against the rest of the stripe (like the factory) I planned to paint an accent color down the center of the stripe before putting the passenger side on and stick it on top of that. The plan for the drivers side and rear was to mask and then cut out the center using an X-acto knife.

I got the passenger side done and it looks great! When I decided to try my hand at the "mask and cut" thing for the driver's side, it quickly became apparent that that was a fleeting idea. There is no way I'm gonna get the center cut out w/ any degree of accuracy. The "two steps backwards" part is the fact that now,...I'm gonna have to remove the driver's side stripe and rear deck stripe in order to paint underneath and then replace the stripes w/ new ones .....Yeah!

On a positive note, save for the stripes, I did have the dip switches wrong on my gas gauge. That's fixt. All that's left is is the pass seat and belt, cleaning and a quick detail. It will be done tomorrow.

Did you find a way to keep your shoulder harnesses from slipping off the top of the seat? If not, I was thinking, if you still have those 1/4 strips of alu. that you were going to use as the grill. You could use a piece that was about 3" wider than your seat on each side. Then fold that 3" that stick out wider that the seat back on its self to make a small loop. Then attach that to the center part of the head rest. The loops would hold the belts and should be hard to see tucked in between the seat & head rest.

Yeah thanks, I was thinking the same thing. Only cannot use the 1/4" thick alum to do that, more like .030-.060 stuff. Back burner status for today though, I'mm gonna get that thing rolling!!!

Problem is, It's gonna rain the next 4 days.

I got plans for a neat video that I'll do next week (when the rain stops).

It's done. I took it out to the local parking lot today and took some "decent" pictures. Here's a few.

Mike, dont get me wrong here. The car looks amazing as is, and your work is top notch (no pun intended). Some custom wheels really would set the car off though, especially with a little lip out back. Maybe something to consider in the future, but it has to feel awesome getting her buttoned up. Cant wait to hear it in a vid.

Edit: Who wants to make a bet that an aftermarket company starts producing a '68 front end and hood that will bolt on now, after seeing this car in a mag.

Hey I appreciate all of the feedback and I don't mind anybody giving their advice/opinion either way.

Remember, My plan is to cater to the theme. ( 68 muscle car) The wheels in my opinion are part of that. I want it to be as Ford might have offered it. A "shiny" billet wheel isn't the way I see it. Just as the last "coin toss" over whether or not to run a billet grille weighed in favor of a billet grille, I chose the black hex instead.

My friend says the short stance of the car looks like a pit bull, and the tail sends a signal that says "up yours". That's zackly how I want it.

And the front end is really the simpler of the two things to mass produce, as it ends up bolting onto stock front fenders. I guess I should apply for the patent?

My MSPaint idea... Yeah, it's really rough... but some black rims would look super sweet with the black accents on the car... AmericanMuscle even has matte bullitts... I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

You should apply for the patent before someone steals the idea

I don't have the foggiest idea on how to apply for the "rights" to that front end, or if it is even possible. Maybe I should approach one of the body kit mfg's w/ a sales approach.

As for the wheels, I have to admit that I have looked at painting a portion of the center black, and leaving the spokes or a portion of the spoke silver. I think it would help the wheel significantly. I gotta look at them for awhile to decide how to go about that.

Patent Pending.....

The Patent attorney I spoke w/ today has agreed that there is something to the nose that needs protecting, So I've invested in protecting the "creative design elements" as my own, and have applied for a patent on the nose. I had to create CAD drawings of the individual pieces that went into the design/build, Turn over all of the initial build pictures, and formulate a written "design objective". It was expensive, I hope I'll never have to use it in a court case.
