guys i know that all the cai stink and im not going to gain anything, but i have to choose one. i dont have the stocker anymore, and currently i have the old mac fender well cai. i dont like it at all and have been wanting to change it for a while. so i took into consideration all of them out including the strait shot, volant and a couple others, and even some maf kits.

it boils down to two. i think that these two are the best and will make the gt run better then the mac.

what do you guys think is better, what would you pick!

K&N vs. STEEDA

I agree with the others - K&N, but Steeda looks much better.

I finally need to buy a CAI too and narrowed it down to the same two choices as well. I wish the Steeda one fully closed off the filter from the engine compartment like the K&N does. I'd be inclined to buy it if it did.

K&N fits better - better design IMO, because bracket is mounted to engine. Zero flex in the Steeda. Real nasty engine torque or soft engine mounts would probably get real ugly on the plastic MAF.

I like my Steeda. Seems to work well with the headlight out at the track since the end of the filter is pleated instead of being capped. I don't know if the K&N filter with the FIPK is open on the end of capped off?

BTW, BLKsteeda, what mods do you have for those numbers in your sig?

ok guys i was leaning toward steeda from the beginning, but didnt want to sway the votes so i didnt say. still leaning toward steeda a bit, it looks alot better.

hp is important to me so kn seems to be the choice for that, although some of you seem to have gotten good power from the steeda too.

i didnt think that the k&n fipk system was fully closed off from the engine? is this true, i thought the whole top was open?

It's open on top...until you close the hood. From someone that has owned both kits - Yes the Steeda looks sweet, but mine fit like pure crap. Perhaps it was just a rare case on my part, but my Steeda pipe wasn't bent right and it was too long - so long that a corner of the metal tube actually fit inside the throttle body. After just a couple months I pulled the whole thing off and noticed metal "dust" inside the throttle body. And even if the Steeda would have fit "perfect", I still think the K&N is the better design being supported at the engine instead of being rigid fender mounted. And it's sealed off from engine heat a little bit better. Both with the tube being plastic and also at the filter area.

thanks guys! i have placed my order. the polls show that the kn is ahead of steeda 14 votes to 12. however i decided to take a chance, and i went with the one that i was against because it was not made from plastic. i dont know , somthing about won me over. i ordered the steeda, ill let you guys know what i think of it.

im sure that either of these kits is better then the mac i have now. this mac crap seems to make the car bogg for a second in every gear. slight pause then it kicks in, i cant wait to replace it.

i think the mac did work a bit once the car was moving at higher rpm and speeds.

thanks again!
