Fuel Mileage on 5.0?

I got anywhere from 12-26mpg in all kinds of driving with my 6 stangs, i got the best with my svo which was around 30, ny notch gets around 25 my 7up car got around 22, my 86gt got horrible gas mileage but I had my foot beating the gas like kicking a rabid animal, so around 14 maybe, and my 95 gt got around 17 in town bout 22-3 on the road, my vert is to be decided as of now...

Just checked mine today after filling and I got 20mpg. That was driving to and from work, and being easy on the gas pedal. Shifting early, coasting to lights, and doing the speed limit.
Last trip I got 24, trip before that I got 26-27. Hey it's better than my Suburban.

TexasFireman, Like everyone has stated it is possible to get mid-high 20's for gas mileage on the highway and 18-22 around town, BUT, do NOT buy a Mustang for gas mileage, especially if you will be doing some mods just because you have it. The mods and then your "testing" will equal or surpass any savings on fuel.

If you need a gas saver there are many choices of vehicle that get much better gas mileage than any mustang ever will. Buy a Mustang under the guise of "gas saver" and you will soon be parking it alongside your diesel truck and look for a real "gas saver". Buy a Mustang because you want a Mustang.

I'm not buying a mustang thinking I'm going to get great gas mileage. I've had 6 other fox bodys. I'm just thinking about picking up another one, and was curious what kind of mileage people were geting. But... 15-20 mpg of gas is better than 12-14mpg of diesel at $1.00 per gallon more. Plus its a whole lot easier to park LOL

Like I said before, not looking to buy a Mustang for fuel mileage. I'm just curious what guys get with them. Back when I started this thread, I ended up not buying a car. Now I'm actively on the hunt for a fox body coupe.

As stated earlier in the thread, anywhere from 15-25mpg depending on how you drive it, what is done to it, how its running, if you drive all city then it will be worse. every car is different, so your not going to find some clear cut answer.

A friend of mine told me he got 28mpg in his car one trip, i had a stock AOD hatch that wouldnt get over 20mpg with 75% highway driving

With all the guys that knock down 30 MPG in their 20 year old V8 Mustangs, it has to make you wonder why Ford ever built an econobox?

Take the numbers listed here and knock 10 mpg off of them, and it will be about right.

I average 18-20mpg mixed driving with my 260k miles 86GT. On my trip to the coast back in September, the car averaged 23mpg--that trip was about 80% hwy and I was driving aggressively for most of the trip down. Car is a 5spd w/3.27 gears.
