G-Force Tranny in a 94-95

After a failed TKO install, close to 172,000 miles and over 80 passes on my stock T5, I should really start thinking about a new transmission.

I like the G-Force since theoretically it should just drop right in right? Its a T5 casing. I know I posted this last year, but I tried a search and didn't find too much. With all thats involved in a TKO swap I'm surprised a G-force isn't more popular. They can be had new for ~$1550 with a core exchange.

Just wanted to know if anyone on here has done this.

Its because there service sucks.....Someone here i think it was had there's installed for like 10 miles and the mainshaft snapped clean in half. Obviously a manufacturing defect and they told him to go ***** himself.

I think the guys name on our local board was SHANKIN........

I have driven a car with one of these trannys now...... I liked it.....almost no difference between the stock driveability wise....

When my tranny goes, i plan to get one of those trannys, if i have the cash at the time....

I've heard from racers that these tranny's are as smooth as butter once you put them in. But installing one....

obviously there has gotta be more to that story.

What would be so hard about the install? A tko would be a "harder" install if anything but they should be the same.

I am in need of a tranny and i am contemplating which way to go.

Thats my question, why is this swap so hard? why aren't we all doing it if we can get a 600hp tranny? I know the case of a T5 isn't that strong, but hey, Tim Matherly is using G-Force T5 and running 9's?

The TKO swap was a nightmare, too many parts that weren't fitting and a horrible vibration once it was put in.

My Dad and all his Ford guys were asking, if a 5L mustang is one of the most modified cars in North America, why isn't there an easy swap for the 94-95's?

I dont know why there arent more...its a direct fit. How long have they been around? Maybe since they are relatively new compared to tremecs that they arent tried and trusted yet. One of the guys whos a dealer on the corral said that they sale both g forces and tremecs and they have more problems with the tremec case then the case with the gforce.

94-95's sometime equal that small segment that gets over looked....regardless of having the most popular motor to mod.

Good point. IMO one bad story isnt enough for me to steer clear of a company. A few issues ago in MMFF or 5.0 they did an install with a G force and had no problems. I would go that route if it were me and I had the funds.

My friends that have the G-Force rebuild have been OK with their case, powershifting, etc.

After trying to do a TKO swap, I have absolutely no clue why anyone wouldn't do a G-force swap for a 94-95.

Ive seen them through astro for $1595 w/ core, where did you find the $1550 price??

Well this is now about 2years ago I would certainly hope G-force has gotten better but their service does/did suck! Thats why I didn't get one I ordered the kit they say "2-4 weeks" 4 weeks comes and goes nothing I call " how's my order going ?" them "UHM well the guy who handles the T5 kit isn't in call back tommorrow" I say ok I talk to the guy the next day they are waiting on the small parts kit, I say ok how long? he says 1 week and it'll be shipped needless to say 2weeks go by and nothing. I call again and get the same thing,same answers,same time frame! another 2 weeks go by and nothing! I am pissed now I call for a week cant get a hold of the guy I have had enough that and I got laid off so I cancelled my order. Hopefully their service has gotten better!

I don't remember, I tried looking for that price last night. Someone gave me a website last year for a company that was a G-force dealer, I can't find that thread now.

I too am pondering a G force tranny. Right now Astro Performance looks tempting and might get some business from me. I know C J Pony parts is a G force distributer and they are within driving distance. They don't have much G force info on their site however. I still have to research CJ to see what they have to offer.

I would dare to say that in that experience you weren't dealing with Tony from Astro Performance....... He installs the kits...etc... he is a very nice guy i have talked to him on the phone a couple of times...... For a while i believe they weren't offering a direct swap for the 94-5 models... i think you had to run the DS spacer, shorter bellhousing etc., now i know they are offering one for 94-95 specific with the longer imput shaft etc. to make up the difference......

Only thing i really noticed with the install of the g-force..... as i helped install the one that i wound up driving later......after it was broken in... Is that it was heavier....lol especially laying on your back, and pressing it into the car....

so any local tranny rebuilder should be able to install the gforce kit? seems like thats the best thing to do price wise

i don't think i would say that...... I think that it actually goes together a little differently clearance wise, and what you want you preload on the counter shaft etc. to be.... b/c of the thicker gears etc...
