G-Force Tranny in a 94-95

I checked out the Asto Performance website and the tranny looks great. I'll be replacing mine in a year or so, so this post is of interest.

Actually, I noticed today that at 85-90mph in 5th gear, I am at about 2800rpm with my 3.55s. Kinda would be nice to have a 6th gear. Not sure if it would be worth it. Astro Perf. has a T56. Why not choose that over the G-Force?

G Force Dog Ring Tranny

I just did a tranny swap after my world class could hold the horse power after only putting a 1000 miles in the tranny. I looked around and was thinking of going w/ a TKO , but why put another Tremmec in? The first one didn't last very long and I didn't beat on it. I bought a G Force W/ the Dog Rings. I also installed the Mcloud cluth and Blow proof bell. Everything went smooth. I installed a 1993 mustang in my 1994 with a 93 bell. The only thing is that the shifter is about a 1/2'' closer to the radio. I like the tranny alot. I like the whole idea of stabbing the clutch and keeping WOT and not missing a shift. Its a trick at first to learn how to drive again. It doesn't have any syncro's so downshifting is abit tricky. The trans has a whine like the car has a blower on it , but this made a huge difference for me at the track. I've had to order tranny fluid from G force twice and I received it in 2 days. I would give them a second chance. I talked w/ a guy named Bubba, he helped me out alot on what tranny to go with.

Because a t56 swap will cost around 3k

I blew up my T5 and decided to go with a GForce. The local tranny guru here builds them and is a distributor so I can get one locally. I am getting the upgraded steel shift forks and 28 spline input shaft (94-95 needs this upgrade to eliminate the need for a DS spacer or bell housing.) The reason I decided on a Gforce over a Tremec or T56 are:

Gforce is direct bolt-in (w/ exception of replacing the clutch disc)
No need for bell housing, x-member or DS (as with the Tremec)
T56 is heavier

The Gforce isn't cheap by any means but I didn't want to do the surgery to the car to do any of the other Tranny swaps. I hope it does me well because it's definitely not a "lower cost alternative!"

Are you sure that is correct i am pretty sure they offer a standard spline shaft for the 94-95 cars that will work with your standard t5 cltuch.........I know they have that as an option.......I think maybe you are thinking of the output shaft when you say 28 spline, cause that's what it is.....

Does that include everything tho, i seem to remember people needing some other pieces but not sure...also if u cant put it in yourself add labor,.....new id imagine atleast a new clutch also if not a flywheel also

D&D says it includes everything needed for the swap, but I haven't heard from anyone who has actually used this kit.

The stock input shaft is like 10 spline, right? Whatever it is.... I don't think you can get a G-force with the same input as a standard T-5. CJ sells theirs with like a 21 or 28 spline input and a disc that fits.

According to their site and everything I have read, the G-Force kit is only available with a 26 spline input shaft. It has the stock spline count on the output shaft.

I like dealing with astroperformance. Tony answered all my emails quickly and with good info on the Gforce tranny. As for doing it yourself the parts come out to about $1200 for a complete rebuild. He gave me a list of everything I would need. I am hoping to do this next spring.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the first gear changes from 3.35 to 2.95 and thus fifth goes from .675 to .59. Might need to change my gears to 4.10s like I should've done in the first place.

Yea 4.10's are in my future.....4.30's would be insane :hail2: I wish i had a new mach 1. Thats what those guys usually get i think.

I have a g-force...remember me zenboy? Anyways I'm running it with the motor in the sig and its good so far. I took of two teeth off on the 2nd gear of the stock t-5 while I was in michigan on the new motor. Drove the car home and looked at my options. I ended up going with the geforce kit. It cost me less than $1500 bux to do the whole thing with the tranny removal and install done by me. I just got the basic kit from g-force and a t-5 rebuild kit from them and had a local shop do the rebuild for me ($250) and got a new spec 26 spline clutch disc and I was all set. You can reuse your shifter and everything. It goes in just the same way it came out. There is gear whine though...its about equivalent to the blower whine on the 03-04 cobras. It will get pretty much drowned out by any aftermarket exhaust you have. And when the exhaust isnt too loud outside the car when you pass by it sounds kinda like the old s-trims. But yea no problems with mine and I have been to the track once already and gone autocrossing with it. If your not maxing out the stock block you dont need their fancy output shaft. A stock one is fine. Done even mail your core to them. Just get the kit and have a rebuild done locally any good tranny shop can rebuild a t-5 in a day or two...hell they have been around since the 70's.

G-force makes a (t-5) rebuild kit don't they if so anyone know how much it costs?
www.astroperformance.com

Nothing special about the rebuild kit. It's just the gears and a reinforcement plate that makes the Gforce T5 stronger. Astroperformance does not list the parts for the Gforce gears but you can email them (Tony) and they'll get back to you with the prices of what you need to make your T5 a Gforce T5.

I was interested in it for the .59 5th gear to squeeze out some extra mpg. Not to mention the stock 1st gear ratio sucks. I didn't find that out until I just did my 5sp swap. I was always looking at the g-force with interest and planned on doing it maybe after taxes come in next year. If you have one how did the .59 help out?
