G-Tech ...Pros and Cons

I've heard that previous models were not that accurate, although, they have made improvements with the new rr and ss models. I'm sure someone will chime in and be able to tell you. But, there will always be that person who will tell you it's utter crap because of it's past reputation.

I use a gtech an old Pro model is it great No would I consider the #'s from it true No. Is it a great tuning device Yes. Numbers so so accurate. I don't have a close 1/4 track to test it on but if I go to one I will compare it. By using a 1/4 mile to 1/8 conversion chart it was fairly close to what I ran in the 1/8. Also it is good for back to back comparo's, which you may not be able to do at a track.

I've heard that the track times 1/4 mile wise are usually within .2 of actual times. The hp/tq thing is useless though, and it measures trap speeds differently than the track does.

The new G-tech's are rather impressive. I take mine to the track all the time, very very close to actual track times. The hp/tq figures are not the same as using a dyno though, b/c it can't acount for wind drag, if used just for tuning, it's great.
My old G-tech pro was a little optimistic though :(

How does it compare to actual track times?
How accurate is the HP and TQ compared to "real" Dyno #'s?
I tried my friends newer one and it said I ran a 13.5, 13.6 and 13.4, all at 103 in the 1/4. Id say its okay for street use, but if u really wanna know, u know where to go.
