Gear Drive vs. Double Roller Chain....pros and cons

there really is no good reason for a gear drive anymore, back in the 70's when they still had weak single roller chains the only way to not crash the valve train was to go to a gear drive, the advent of good quality and affordable double roller sets have pretty much made the gearsets unnecessary, too much noise, harmonics and wear debris

That's basically what i had come to understand....which is why this thread was looooong gone until it got dug back up

So, are the "quiet" ones you see advertised any better as far as the friction and vibration because they are cut different?
